Lilydale Online Access Centre – Important Update

In 2024, the Tasmanian Government reviewed digital inclusion across the state and recommended phasing out Online Access Centres where suitable alternatives exist. As a result, most centres—including Lilydale—will close soon after June 2026.

Following discussions with Libraries Tasmania, a positive new plan has been developed for our community. The public library, currently located within the school, will move to a more accessible street-front location, taking over the space now used by the Online Access Centre. There will also be a dedicated room available for meetings.

While this marks the end of the Online Access Centre after 25 years of service, we are encouraged by Libraries Tasmania’s willingness to consult and support the transition.
The change is expected around the July school holidays.

We would like to sincerely thank all coordinators, volunteers, and committee members—past and present—who have contributed to the Centre’s success over many years.
