At St Brigid's College, our Specialised Netball Elective is more than just playing sport. It's an opportunity for students to develop practical skills, leadership qualities, and industry-recognised accreditations.

Through a combination of practical and theory-based learning, students will:

🏐 Develop teamwork, fitness and tactical awareness
🏐 Learn about nutrition and injury prevention
🏐 Complete coaching and umpiring courses
🏐 Gain nationally recognised coaching accreditation

Designed for students with a passion for netball, this course also provides an excellent introduction to Physical Education Studies and future sporting pathways. This pathway leads to Specialised Sport curriculum options in Years 10 to 12.

Early Learners | Ages 3–5 , come Experience our Bush School sessions at St Brigid's College

St Brigid’s invites future and current families to experience the joy of learning through nature with our Bush School Experience morning, this introductory session is designed especially for children aged 3 to 5 years who are considering Pre-Kindy and Kindergarten at the College.

Bush School offers young learners the opportunity to explore, discover and grow in a natural outdoor environment. Guided by experienced early childhood educators, children engage in play-based learning that nurtures curiosity, resilience, creativity and confidence. Through hands-on experiences in nature, children build foundational skills while developing a deep sense of connection to the world around them.

The final Bush School Experience session for 2026 will be held on:

Year 10 Media Arts Excursion to Murdoch University 📸🎦💻

Our Year 10 Media Arts students recently enjoyed a hands-on excursion to Murdoch University, where they had the opportunity to explore a range of media production skills and experience university learning.

During the day, students participated in workshops focused on news interview skills, developing their confidence in asking open ended questions to tell a story. They also recorded their own podcast, putting their storytelling skills into practice.

Students then explored software to design and animate a character.

It was a great day of creativity and practical learning, giving students a valuable insight into the exciting possibilities within the media arts industry and further study.

The past weekend saw Blaze and Ignite once again hit the stage, showcasing their incredible Hip Hop style at Perth Dance Challenge. Our parent, grandparent, staff & friend support crew grew at this performance, and the dancers absolutely appreciated the team behind them. The energy on stage was fabulous to watch and of note was the great teamwork and sportsmanship again shown. Congratulations to these dancers and we can not wait to see you join all of our fabulous College dancers (Years 1 - 11) at our annual dance night in November!

Book Week 2026: A Symphony of Stories

Book Week 2026 was a true celebration of the wonderful diversity of stories, voices and experiences that make up our College community. Inspired by this year’s theme, A Symphony of Stories, our celebrations explored how, just like music, literature brings different voices together to create something powerful, meaningful and joyful.

Across the College, students from Primary through to the Secondary School joined in a wide range of activities that brought books and music together. Our week began with Tales After Twilight, where Primary students, parents and grandparents were mesmerised by the storytelling talents of our staff and were gifted a set of books to continue their reading journey at home.

Throughout the week, classrooms came alive with Book Week quizzes, musical-note scavenger hunts and an instrument-building workshop, with Senior students generously supporting our younger students. Students explored instruments discovering the many connections between music and storytelling. Our early years classes were treated to Perform Education’s ‘Something Special’. A silent disco amongst the books added another fun beat to the week!

Years 5 and 7 were inspired by a special session with author Deb Fitzpatrick, who shared her literary journey to create best-selling novels. Whilst our Year 12 Literature visited with the Year 11 and 12 Literature students from Mazenod College, students were brought together to share their insights into the world of literature; where one of the highlights was a Shakespearean Escape Room

The week reached its crescendo with our much-loved Book Parade, where students and staff celebrated their favourite characters and stories in spectacular style. There was also a ‘special guest’ appearance from Mary Poppins aka Mrs Parker and the ‘Doctor’ Dr De Luca! Plus a challenge was laid out for our parents to celebrate in style in 2027 with us!

From quiet readers to enthusiastic storytellers, musicians to performers, every member of our College community added their own unique voice to our Symphony of Stories.

Thank you to Adam Hort MLA for hosting our Head Girls, Head Boarders and Year 6 student leaders at Parliament House today. Students enjoyed a tour of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council chambers, followed by morning tea and a Q&A discussion about issues affecting Kalamunda and the Perth Hills. A fantastic morning and a wonderful leadership experience for our students.

Our Year 12 Retreat, with the theme of ‘Carry the Light’, was a magnificent, moving and deeply meaningful day of faith, reflection and community. From celebrating Mass with Fr Michael Twigg OMI, sharing stories of faith, and enjoying time together, to undertaking a pilgrimage walk to Stirk Park and reflecting on the legacy and impact they hope to leave behind, students embraced the day openness and positivity. Throughout the day, the Year 12s were invited to pause, reflect on the people and experiences that have shaped them, and look ahead with hope and confidence to the future. As they were commissioned to go forward and shine, the Year 12s were reminded to carry Christ’s light into the world wherever their journey leads.
