Our Grade 6 debating teams showed incredible courage and quick thinking this week as they competed in Secret Topic Debates!
On Wednesday, Lillian Forster, Pippa Daisley and Skyla Higoe competed against Christian College. With only three minutes to prepare, the team had to argue the affirmative side of the topic, “Students should be paid for receiving good results at school.” The girls did a fantastic job developing their arguments and speaking confidently. Unfortunately, Christian College took the win, but our team should be extremely proud of their efforts- a big shout out also to Lennie and Isla for being our Chairperson and Timekeeper.
On Thursday, we travelled to Barwon Heads Primary School, where two more teams competed on the secret topic, “Digital money is better than cash.” Lexie Houston, Olive Connell and Hudson Leibhardt delivered strong arguments and came away with the win, with Olive also being named Best Speaker!
Our final team, Alizae Thompson, Georgia Nicholson and Maya Pastorello, also presented some excellent arguments and narrowly missed out on the win.
A huge congratulations to all of these brave students for stepping outside their comfort zones, thinking on their feet and representing our school so proudly. What a fantastic achievement!
