Today, we're introducing Year 8 student Isabel Linton, who is stepping into the role of the determined and spirited Princess Fiona.

For Isabel, music is a huge part of what she loves about performing. She says singing and music bring her joy and peace, and she especially loves seeing the smiles it brings to those around her when they sing or play music together.

Isabel loves how Fiona evolves throughout the story, moving from a frantic and fiery princess to someone who becomes more caring and soft-hearted. She also admires Fiona’s s***k, strength and determination to stand up for herself after everything she has endured.

Although Isabel and Fiona share some headstrong qualities, there is one big difference ... Fiona can get very angry! Isabel says she doesn’t yell very often, making some of Fiona’s more fiery moments a challenge to perform.

Without giving away any spoilers, Isabel’s favourite part of the show is definitely the songs, particularly her opening number, 'I Know It’s Today'. She describes it as a challenging but powerful introduction to Fiona and the story of her life in the tower.

We can’t wait to see Isabel bring Fiona’s strength, heart and s***k to the stage!

Our recent Year 10 Service Camp was designed to provide students with opportunities to serve others in meaningful and impactful ways.

Partnering with Christian Youth Camps at C*C The Island in Cowes, students were able to clean up and sort out behind-the-scenes working areas, allowing ongoing smooth access to building materials and wood piles.

Students spread mulch and repaired garden beds, and they also painted a large expanse of the side fence at the front of the property.

As part of our partnership, students were able to enjoy the giant swing and flying fox, use the pedal cars, climb the Pinnacle and visit the Penguin Parade.

Each day, time was set aside for considering how the fruits of the Spirit are expressed through service. Students also enjoyed participating in off-site activities as God blessed their time together.

Many commented that service was challenging and helped them grow, and that working together was good for morale.

There was also the observation that ‘painting is messier than you think’! Service Camp is a highly rewarding week, filled with great memories.

Our student leaders at Leongatha recently led a special assembly for our campus community, centred on the theme of 'faithfulness'.

To bring this important message to life, they presented a skit about Abraham and his unwavering faith in following God's instruction to sacrifice his son. Through a combination of meaningful biblical reflection and plenty of humour and creativity, the assembly reminded us that God is always faithful to His people.

Alongside worship songs, Bible readings and updates about upcoming events, every aspect of the assembly was planned, prepared and presented by student leaders. Their enthusiasm, leadership and dedication made the event both inspiring and memorable for all who attended.

Our students enjoyed a fast-paced, fun and entertaining incursion from Meerkat Productions, bringing Dear Broccoli to life through clever storytelling, humour, rhythm and playful physical theatre.

The performance gave students plenty to think about, particularly the importance of listening in friendships, creating space to hear others and being brave enough to speak up.

Our students represented Chairo Leongatha superbly at the Years 5 & 6 Boys Lightning Premiership Soccer Tournament, demonstrating excellent teamwork, skill and sportsmanship throughout the day.

The team finished second overall, earning a place in the next round of competition. At the following tournament, the boys once again finished second after another outstanding performance.

We were excited to host the Years 5 & 6 Girls Lightning Premiership Soccer Tournament at our campus this year, welcoming teams from across the region.

Although our girls were defeated in each match, they displayed outstanding resilience, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day.

People from each visiting school commented on the positive attitude and encouragement shown by our team, making us incredibly proud of the way they represented Chairo.

Our Shrek The Musical JR performances are fast approaching, so let’s introduce you to one of our fantastic leading cast members!

Jedidiah Bowman in Year 8 is taking on the iconic role of Shrek in our upcoming production in Pioneers Hall on Friday 11 (11.30 am & 7.30 pm) and Saturday 12 (7.30 pm) September.

Jedidiah loves acting because he enjoys adding comedy to his words and actions, especially when it gets a laugh from the audience! He’s also bringing plenty of personality to the role of Shrek, who he describes as a character with two very different sides: big, scary and mean, but also kind, loving and caring.

Despite playing the grumpy green ogre, Jedidiah believes that Shrek isn’t much like him in real life. Instead, he describes himself as more of an 'always talking Donkey' ... funny, social and a little bit nuts!

Without giving away any spoilers, Jedidiah’s favourite part to perform is a song with Donkey during their journey. It’s a great moment that shows just how much Shrek wishes Donkey would leave him alone … and perhaps how much he regrets bringing him along in the first place!

We can’t wait to see Jedidiah bring this much-loved character to life on stage.
