Konnichiwa from Leeming 🇯🇵 🌏
This week we were delighted to welcome students from our sister school, Hiroshima Kokusai Gakuin High School to Leeming SHS.
Throughout the week, our visitors experienced everyday life at Leeming by joining classes, taking part in Australian themed activities, and exploring Indigenous storytelling through art by creating their own artworks inspired by traditional styles and symbols.
To finish the week, everyone came together for a BBQ cooked by our Chaplain, Carl, before trying their hand at making some Australian food.
More than anything, this week was about connection, sharing cultures, making new friendships, and giving students a chance to learn from one another. Experiences like this are a special part of our Japanese Specialist Program and the international connections we value at Leeming.
A huge thank you to our wonderful host families, the staff and students from both Leeming and Hiroshima Kokusai Gakuin High School who helped make the visit so memorable.

From an idea to a finished sculpture 🎨
Our Year 9 Visual Arts students have been getting hands on in the classroom, transforming personal ideas and experiences into expressive clay hand sculptures. Using their own hands as a reference, they carefully built each piece before refining the finer details with ceramic tools.
It’s been fantastic to see creativity taking shape as learning continues this term.

Hear ye, hear ye! Learning comes to life when students get hands on ⚔️🏺
To finish last term, our Year 8 AEP HASS students transformed their learning into a Medieval Fair, complete with engaging games, creative stalls and medieval-themed challenges for their fellow Year 8's to enjoy.
They also showcased their impressive Ancient Egypt museum exhibits, bringing history to life while developing teamwork, planning, leadership and presentation skills along the way.
A fantastic example of learning in action and the creativity our students bring both inside and outside of the classroom.
For our final look back at an incredible day, let's hear from a few more of our students and Mr Angus to see how they were feeling during last term's World's Greatest Shave ✂️
Now with Week 1 of Term 3 behind us, it's time for new opportunities, new experiences, and plenty more moments to celebrate together.
