At our staff meeting last night, we reflected on our response to an incident that occurred in February outside LECC. The teams ran through scenarios that required them to think on their feet, manage children, get first aid equipment and look after a casualty. It was a great way to look at ways to improve and to practice making a phone call to emergency services .

โจ We Won! โจ
Over the weekend, our team had the incredible honour of winning the Excellence in Best Practice award at the Early Childhood Learning and Development Awards, hosted by Child Australia! ๐๐
This award recognises our dedication to best practice in Early Childhood Education and Care, and we are so proud that our journey with Schema Play has been celebrated in this way. At LECC, we are committed to fostering a rich, play-based learning environment where childrenโs natural urges to explore, experiment, and discover are truly valued.
A huge thank you to our passionate team, our wonderful families, and our incredible children who inspire us every day. This achievement belongs to all of us! ๐

We welcomed back to LECC Hey Presto! this morning. The joy and laughter that was coming from outside was glorious to hear. David (Hey Presto!) had playschool, kindy, schoolies and educators in howls of laughter with his antics. He finished off the show with some fantastic balloon animals.
Thank you for coming back to entertain us. Find Hey Presto Magician on Facebook for more information.

Our team had the first staff meeting of 2025 last night which featured a discussion on fixed and growth mindsets. Children developing a growth mindset is featured in the EYLF V2 and we discussed how you can move along the "mindset continuum" amongst other things.
Thanks Melissa for facilitating this thoughtful session.

Today we spent some time down at the North Metro Tafe creche. A huge thank you to the early childhood team at Tafe for welcoming us, especially Sara. LECC enjoys a close relationship with North Metro Tafe with many of our educators being graduates. The creche is open to the public on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for a gold coin donation during term times.

Today's adventures included the lovley Vicki from Wonderful Worm Waste coming to visit us. We had Vicki last year and she was so brilliant, we had to have her back for 2025. Our children know lots about worms and I think she was impressed their knowledge. The children got to find worms before making a miniworm farm of their own. Don't forget to pick it up this afternoon ๐ชฑ
Thank you for visiting us Vicki. For more on Wonderful Worm Waste please see: https://wonderfulwormwaste.com.au/

This morning some of our older kindy children went to the City of Vincent Library. They were so lucky to find out that a magician called Magic Dale was performing. The children and educators were very impressed especially when he made the table fly! After the performance, the children and educators read some books together before returning to LECC for lunch of Chicken Gnocchi (as featured in Feedy Leedy).
