The Leavers Jacket might be a tradition dating back decades but there’s something very new about La Salle College’s latest sartorial offering. For the first time in the College’s history La Salle’s leavers will be donning jackets incorporating First Nations artwork.

In 2025, the then Year 11s designed their Class of 2026 Leavers Jacket incorporating First Nations artwork into the jacket.

The artwork appears on the back of the Leavers Jacket and was created by students with the help of Ms Farmer, the College’s Aboriginal Liaison Officer.

Ms Farmer taught the students traditional Aboriginal artwork techniques, passed on to her from Aboriginal Elders.

Through this process, students embraced a new way of learning and demonstrated flexibility by being open to exploring artistic traditions and perspectives different from their own.

An idea presented by a Year 12 student at Seton Catholic College has grown into a powerful example of student leadership, service, and community spirit.

Seton’s Year 12 student leaders raised $5,200 for pancreatic cancer research through a student-led Quiz Night supporting Dare to Hope.

Earlier this year, Head Girl Isabella brought the idea to the College Leadership Team, presenting a well-researched proposal and detailed plan for how the fundraiser could be brought to life. With the support and enthusiasm of a large group of Year 12 student leaders, Bella drove the initiative forward, turning an idea into an event that brought together students, staff, families and members of the wider community.

Around 400 staff and students from sixteen Catholic schools visited St Michael the Archangel Chapel in Leederville from 3-5 August.

And it was not just any visit, the attendees were there to see the St Carlo Acutis Relics and Exhibition.

The visitors, including students spanning Years 4 to 12, heard from Kate Hobbs, President of the Friends of St Carlo Acutis Society, and had an opportunity to pray and venerate the relics before engaging with the Eucharistic Miracles Exhibition.
