🎉 Celebrating our 2026 QCE Award Winners

Yesterday, we celebrated excellence across Catholic education in Western Australia at the 2026 QCE Awards. Over the coming days, we'll be introducing this year's winners and celebrating the impact they are having in their school communities.

🏅 First up is the winner of the Catholic Identity – Primary category.

Congratulations to Hammond Park Catholic Primary School for “Where Faith Becomes Action”, a Christian Service-Learning program that empowers students to live the Gospel through meaningful service, leadership and community engagement.

From classrooms and co-curricular opportunities to workplace learning, every experience can help shape a student's future.

As a graduating student from Lumen Christi College, Nokutenda is looking ahead to a future in architecture.

"After high school I hope to pursue a career in architecture. Throughout my schooling years, I've understood that a supporting school environment has had only a positive impact on my school experience. It allowed me to grow in my passion for architecture, as I want to be part of designing sanctuaries whether it be welcoming schools or beautiful homes."

Holy Rosary School Derby recently played host to students and staff from St Bede's College
in Melbourne.

The representatives from St Bede’s were taking part in a special immersion experience where they had the opportunity to engage with Holy Rosary students, staff and families, as well as the wider Derby community.

The immersion was aimed at developing a deeper appreciation for life, learning, culture and faith in the Kimberley.

And there was one particularly special connection as St Bede’s student, Will uncovered a strong family connection to Holy Rosary.

Will’s great great aunt, Sr Ignatius served as Holy Rosary’s foundation Principal and Teacher.

Every lesson, opportunity and experience has helped shape the journey ahead for our Year 12 students.

As a graduating student from St John Bosco College Piara Waters, Mia is looking ahead to a future in teaching.

"I’m excited to pursue a career in teaching because I love passing on knowledge and helping others learn and grow. Theatre productions, leadership opportunities, supporting peers and inspiration from teachers at Bosco have all helped me grow in my confidence, communication skills, and has also left me feeling fulfilled by helping others succeed."

Last month Mater Christi Catholic Primary School held its annual LEGO Masters competition, an event that continues to grow in popularity each year.

Over two weeks, students from Years 1 to 6 were invited to take part in this exciting creative challenge, held in the school library. Participants worked in teams of up to five and were challenged to use only the LEGO provided to create their own free-build designs.

The Class of 2026 is preparing for many different futures, each shaped by the lessons learned along the way.

For Brody from St Luke's College Karratha, that future is in the maritime industry.

"My chosen career pathway is to work in the maritime industry on work boats. These include tug boats, rig tenders, commercial fishing vessels and smaller boats. School has really set me up to achieve this goal by organising a school-based traineeship work placement at Svitzer through Programmed alongside my TAFE block delivery dates."

For Amy from Nagle Catholic College, that future is in medical research.

"I would like to enter the field of pharmacology in the future and hopefully contribute to helpful medical research for many people. Throughout my schooling, I have been offered many opportunities to learn about different careers, such as research at the Harry Perkins Institute on a school camp. This sparked my interest in the science field and helped me decide what I was passionate about as a career."
