Thankyou to everyone who has made our special day, and our incredible school, possible and such a great success. On Friday 9th of August we celebrated an incredible feat - a Grand Opening in a school that has been growing and moving with great dynamism particularly over the last few years. But it’s been a plan for nearly a decade. Friday however was our day to spend some time together as a community to take some time to reflect and give thanks for where we are in our story.
🍎Uncle Colin Locke welcomed us all to Country yesterday and our President John Robertson gave us some sage words of wisdom as one of the key people who has worked tirelessly on the huge shift for our school.
🍎Deputy Mayor Romola Hollywood shared her joy on seeing the fruits of the labour of those who have worked so hard in Blue Mountains Council, and councillors such as herself, who have been so focused on the schools successful move and growth from the start.
🍎We also received incredible support from each member of BYC School Board, Hebersham Campus staff, Aunty Carol, Susan Templeman, Lawson RFS, ACRC, Wentworth Falls TAFE, Katoomba High School, Katoomba Street University, MYST, Springwood and Katoomba Police and all of our families, carers and extended school community.
🍎But the greatest support - as I spoke about yesterday - comes from our students and are why all of us are here in the first place whether it be for a Grand Opening or a regular school day.
🍎Students from our Lawson Campus made all the necessary preparations for our lunch in regards to our fresh sandwiches and fruit. Our Hebersham students prepped a delicious hot food selection that was also able to be served on the day. Every person who attended yesterday commented on how much they enjoyed the food and how it had been presented - an abundance of personally made sweets from both campuses and the sweet chilli sauce hand made at Hebersham was considered the best ever tasted by our local YLO from Springwood and Katoomba LAC.
🍎Finally we were able to create a Mob Poem with everyone in attendance which as promised, will be published here and sent to all of our Mob Poets.
