A HUGE Thank you to Lawrence Fire brigade, for having us over on a recent visit.
The children got to meet a Firefighter who dressed in his heavy gear with coat, gloves and mask, and we discovered that he is not someone to fear but someone who will keep us safe in an emergency. We also learnt ‘don’t hide but go to a safe spot’ and how to ‘stop, drop and roll’ in the event of a fire, we learnt to ‘get down low and go go go’. Fire safety education for children is the first line of defence against misuse of fire and fire fatalities and injuries. Prevention through education is integral in reducing the risk of fire to children. The children loved exploring the trucks, hose and sirens. We did learn that the take home message was for families to have a designated safe place for children and you to evacuate to keeping in mind that the letter box is close to a driveway and those big firefighters truck will be coming in a hurry so sometimes not a great spot to have, also that many house in Lawrence don’t have a letter box. Where is your safe place??? Also it is important to start teaching children your home address to allow 000 to find your house in case of an emergency, if calling from a mobile they do not know where you are calling from. Thanks again for allowing us to visit and learn these valuable lessons, we love and look forward to our visit next door.

Despite the rain. It was incredibly special to see our youngest community members participate in the Commemoration Service at Lawrence Memorial Park today. Thankyou to our families for coming together on this important National Day. Watching our preschool wreath being laid by Mae, Milli and Miss Michelle as a symbol of our respect was so nice. Lest we forget.

We are currently seeking a casual educator to join our team. Please feel free to share this opportunity with your friends and family. We are excited to expand our educator team and welcome new members. Work hours are between 8:15-4:15 based on school terms. Monday to Friday shifts are available.

We would like to thank Llyod and his team from the Lawrence State Emergency Service Unit, who facilitated a wonderful excursion for our children. We had a lovely time taking both groups of children over last week (12/13th November) and learning all about the wonderful things the volunteers do.The children were introduced to the wonderful volunteers who wore orange uniforms, learnt that SES volunteers work with the Police to find lost people, the Fire Brigade to fight fires and specialise in helping people during floods and storms. The children were also able to try on child sized uniforms, life jackets, search for orange tags and hop inside the boat, with a highlight of playing with mini pretend chainsaws. What a delightful day 🧡

Within our preschool curriculum, we encourage children to be socially responsible and learn about the different roles within our community, as well as sharing their learning with others to promote community awareness. NSW SES Lawrence Unit
