Parent friendships often start in the car park at pick-up time. Someone else's child is also refusing vegetables. Someone else has a car full or rocks and seed pods. Someone else is navigating the same sleep regression, or the same afternoon outbursts. Someone else understands because they're in it too.

Early childhood settings create natural opportunities for these connections to form. You see the same faces at drop-off, share similar experiences, and gradually realise you're not figuring this out alone.

Parenting can feel isolating. Finding like-minded people who 'get it' matters not only for the children's wellbeing and connectedness, but also for our own.

Sea of Hearts Project

During Reconciliation Week, we learn about some history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and how everyone should listen, care, and walk together with respect.
The Sea of Hearts reminds us that many small acts of kindness can make something big and beautiful together.
This incorporates characteristics that we learn every day at kindy - kindness, respect, a caring attitude, sharing, being fair and working together. What would Australia be like if everyone was not kind, didn’t show respect or care about other people, and were mean and selfish? Is that a place where you would like to live?
It is everyone’s responsibility to make our country a beautiful place of acceptance and kindness, for all cultures.
We also read the story, Finding Our Heart.
We then cut out our own heart, decorated and painted it to add to our sea of hearts to display to the community.
Each heart can show love, friendship, care, and respect. When we put all of the hearts together, it shows everyone belongs and we can all be kind to one another.

Our children look forward to each class’ visit from Aunty Deb each week, where she keeps them on task with her fun yoga sessions!

Our staff enjoyed talking to people in the community and the children who visited our Open Day this morning.
We believe that you know as soon as you walk through the doors whether a Kindy is the right fit for your family. You can feel the atmosphere, the love and senses of belonging - and that is what the Lawnton Kindy Kids and families feel every day when they come to our Kindy!
