The children’s interest in football began when a peer shared his footy cards and they watched highlights together. This quickly grew into regular games outside, teaching Educators the rules, and even building a stadium from loose parts. Children choosing a quiet corner and selecting their own books is a powerful act of self‑directed learning. In these small moments, they show us that they know what they need. A sense of calm, focus, and the freedom to follow their curiosity. By taking charge of their space and their stories, they build independence, confidence, and a genuine love of reading. These choices may seem simple, but they reveal a growing sense of agency and a deepening connection to learning that comes from within.

When children press matchsticks into clay, they’re doing far more than playing, they’re building the fine‑motor strength and control that will support writing later on. The resistance of the clay strengthens the small muscles in their fingers, hands, and wrists, while the careful placement of each stick develops precision, coordination, and a steady pincer grip.
