Our Mission:
Pines Toastmasters Club provides a supportive and positive learning experience in which members and guests are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. We are a club that is dedicated to helping you become a better communicator whether you are an avid speaker or just starting out, we offer a supportive environment for you to practice your speaking and leadership skills. In order to help you, we host fun and easy speaking games and opportunities that you can be involved with. For Our Members:
Our members are able to improve their speaking and presentation skills by preparing and presenting a speech to the audience. Members can refer to their Competent Communication & Competent Leadership guides. For Our Guests:
We welcome guests over 18 years of age. You are welcome to come along, watch or participate in our meetings which are hosted on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursday of the month from 6.45pm-8.30pm. We are located at USC Moreton Bay, Moreton Parade, Petrie (off Gympie Road). Free on-site & street parking available.

It’s contest season
Tonight our Club held the annual contests for Evaluation and Table Topics.
The winners will represent our Club at the next level of contest Area 8 at the end of November
Lucy won the Evaluation contest
Chris won the Table Topics contest

Well done to the winners and thank you to all the e toastmasters from nearby clubs who came to help make the contest a success

A new member in our club took it upon themselves to spice up our meeting last night.
Their job was to provide the word of the night and count how often that word was used during the meeting.
The word of the night was PIVOTAL
It was used through out. The winner received this very cute little scrubby made by his wife.
You get out of toastmasters what you put into it - we are looking forward to seeing this member grow and flourish in our club.

Want to practise using different words?
Get your tongue around using them in a sentence?

Every meeting our club has a “Word of the night”
At our last meeting the word was “Ebullient”

I always take the word and try and use it again in conversation somewhere in my week
Have a go - pop this word into your conversation this week.

Are you looking for ways to become more confident speaking in front of an audience?

Due to sickness and other commitments our last Toastmasters meeting was very small in number
We used this as an opportunity to read aloud from the lectern. There are many examples of situations where you might have to read a piece from a lectern.

⚓ Charting Our Own Course at Pines Toastmasters ⚓

At our latest meeting, we certainly charted our own course!

Our key contributor for the evening, Michaela, took us on a voyage filled with trajectories, course adjustments, and navigating our individual Toastmasters journeys. Our very own captain for the evening did a fantastic job bringing the nautical theme to life, entertaining not only our members but also our guests.

There's something special about a meeting where everyone embraces the theme—it makes for an evening that's engaging, memorable, and a whole lot of fun!

A big thank you also goes to the members who represented Pines Toastmasters at the recent University of the Sunshine Coast Market Day. We're thrilled to say that one of the students we met there came along as a guest to this meeting. We hope to see them back again soon!

🐶🐱 We also finally settled one of life's biggest debates... at least for one evening! After a spirited discussion, the room voted that dogs came out on top over cats. Think the room got it wrong? You'll have to come along to our next debate and see if you can change everyone's mind!

🎯 Commitment: The Promise We Make

At our latest Pines Toastmasters meeting, we explored the theme of Commitment—a fitting topic as we begin another year full of opportunities and personal growth.

Commitment is more than simply turning up. It's the promise we make to ourselves to keep learning, keep challenging ourselves, and keep supporting one another on our journey to becoming better communicators and leaders.

One of the highlights of the evening was welcoming four first-time guests! It was fantastic to see so many new faces, and we're delighted that all four expressed an interest in coming back. We can't wait to welcome them again and continue sharing everything Toastmasters has to offer.

Every member was a guest once, and seeing our club continue to grow reminds us just how welcoming and supportive the Toastmasters community is.

At Pines Toastmasters Club we help our annual changeover of Executive at our last meeting
One of our traditions is to give out two awards
One for Toastmaster of the Year - for the person who has gone above and beyond all year to make our club greater
The other for Most Improved Toastmaster - awarded to the person the members feel has improved the most over the past 12 months.
Quite honestly our two recipients could have taken home either award. They have been in Toastmasters for less than 2 years, have stepped out of their comfort zones and jumped right in to wanting help make our club the best club it can be
Most Improved Toastmaster went to Michaela - she stepped into the leadership role of VPE and then also took on the role of interim President when our President had to step away - we are all very inspired to see Michaela’s confidence grow as she stepped into these roles
Toastmaster of the Year went to Bryden - he stepped into a leadership role of VPPR and revitalised our social media presence and has been sharing many ideas to help make our club greater. He has also been supporting Michaela in her roles as well. Bryden we love seeing you flourish.

✨ Meeting Recap – Aim for the Sky

At our last Pines Toastmasters meeting we launched the first of our new Knowledge Nuggets – short, practical insights designed to help our members grow both inside and outside of Toastmasters.

One of our returning members shared a powerful reminder:
“Wherever you go in the world, it starts here.”

The skills and experiences you gain through Toastmasters don’t just stay in the meeting room — they help you wherever life takes you.

We also challenged some of our more experienced members with some tricky Table Topics. These quick-fire speaking challenges required excellent improv skills, quick thinking, and confidence under pressure. They were fun, rewarding, and a great reminder that no matter how much you learn, there’s always a new challenge waiting.
