This week we’re diving into imagination, creativity, and the joy of reading!
Every child can be anything — a hero, explorer, artist, or dreamer.

Activities include:

Preschool 1 embraced Science Week with excitement and creativity, transforming their learning space into a Mad Scientist Laboratory. From August 3–9, our children explored Dental Health Week with curiosity, confidence, and plenty of smiles. This year, the Australian Dental Association (ADA) highlighted the free children’s eBook Guardians of the Gums, a colourful story that teaches young children how to fight off sugar bugs and protect their teeth.

We used this theme to create meaningful, play‑based learning experiences that helped children understand healthy habits in a fun and age‑appropriate way.

🌟 Activities & Learning Highlights

Each activity supported children’s wellbeing, early literacy, and real‑world understanding of health routines.

📚 Story Time

We read the ADA’s Guardians of the Gums along with other books about visiting the dentist. Children loved meeting the “tooth heroes” and learning how brushing keeps teeth strong.

🪥 Tooth Brushing Demo

Using a large model set of teeth and a giant toothbrush, educators demonstrated gentle, circular brushing motions. Children practised alongside us, building confidence in their daily routines.

🍎 Food Sorting Game

Children sorted picture cards into “healthy for teeth” and “sometimes foods.” This hands‑on game helped them recognise how different foods affect their teeth and overall health.

🦷 Role Play Dentist Clinic

Our dramatic play area transformed into a mini dentist clinic with masks, mirrors, gloves, and count‑the‑teeth charts. Children took turns being dentists, patients, and assistants—building confidence and reducing anxiety around real dental visits.

💬 Why This Learning Matters

These experiences help children:

• Build healthy habits early
• Understand the importance of brushing and nutrition
• Feel confident about visiting the dentist
• Strengthen fine motor skills, language, and social play
• Connect learning to real‑life routines

Another wonderful social and family gathering for our amazing educators! At Goodstart Lavington, our number one focus is always on our children and their families, day in and day out — but it’s just as important for us to connect, unwind, and build strong team relationships outside of work.

This month’s social outing was ten‑pin bowling, and it was full of laughs, friendly competition, and plenty of cheering. A huge congratulations to our ECT/Educational Leader, Arun, for taking home the trophy!

Stay tuned — we can’t wait to share what next month’s social day will bring.
