Permaculture Pathways

Yesterday was the perfect day for a hike up Ben lomond. Alpine hiking in may on a sunny day is supreme. Legges summit 1572m above sea level and second highest point in tasmania.

I love Tasmania.

Tonight I did something I have wanted to do for a long time. I took part in my first hunt.
It was both confronting and sad yet felt like one of the most natural activities a human could do. An activity that many of my ancestors took part in and now so will I.
I eat meat (only game meat) and if I am to continue to do so I must confront what this entails. I must face the responsibility of and acknowledge my role in the death of another energetical being.

I didn't pull the trigger this time but I was part of the rest of the processing and there will come a moment where it is my finger that ends the life.

It's death was instant with a very impressive shot to the head from 200m away in the dark.
It will feed me and the other hunter for months and it's skin I will tan and use in the home.
This is the most sustainable and humane way of eating meat and I am proud of myself for having the courage to face this.

I've been doing quite a bit of design work lately which has felt good and allowed me to reflect on what this process involves.

Permaculture design is different to other types of design. The designs create themselves in the end... my job is to consider what the humans need, what the land needs and how to fit those 2 together in a harmonious way creating flow.

This design is a special one for some dear friends of mine so I look forward to helping see it come to life.
