AUTHOR + ILLUSTRATOR WORKSHOP
Grade 6 had an amazing author and illustrator workshop this term.
Mrs Chapple wrote a book, ‘Kath’s Place’. It’s about how grateful she is for the time she had with her grandmother. It’s also about connection, support and courage.
The book was illustrated by Mia Stefani Sikos who flew from Melbourne to come and show us the illustrations and the artwork from her journal. The illustrator workshop included drawing a bird.
Mrs Chapple uses writing and Mia uses drawing to take their minds off moments that are challenging, to help them focus on ideas to get them through and feel happier. We learnt that it’s good to have a hobby to do when we are upset or need to calm down. Also that our grandmothers and family members will always be there for us if we make time with them.
We loved this workshop!

Band Soirée #1 ✨🎶
What a wonderful start to our musical year! Our Band students took to the stage for their very first music soirée, showcasing their courage, commitment, and growing talents. From first-time performers to more confident musicians, every student should feel incredibly proud of their effort and achievement.
Learning a musical instrument in primary school offers so many lifelong benefits. Not only does it nurture creativity and self-expression, but it also strengthens memory, concentration, and discipline. Through regular practice, students develop resilience and perseverance, while performing builds confidence and communication skills. Music also fosters teamwork, listening, and a deep appreciation for the arts - skills that support success across all areas of learning.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff, supportive families, and of course, our brave young musicians who made this event so special. We look forward to watching their musical journeys continue to flourish throughout the year!
