Raphael Wenceslao delivered a confident and mature performance in his Concert Certificate 7 Pianoforte examination during the SCSM midyear examination series in Brisbane, earning the outstanding achievement of 90% (a High Distinction). His accomplished performance reflected both musical maturity and careful preparation. Raphael is a student of Brisbane’s Keyboardkidz Piano School.

Kiaan Salunke impressed the examiner with his strong technique and musical artistry during his Junior Classical Piano examination recently. He was awarded a Higher Distinction with 100%. Kiaan attends lessons at Brisbane's Keyboardkidz Piano School. Congratulations Kiaan and his very proud teacher!

The Preliminary examination is the third elementary level of SCSM examinations after Beginner and Junior. Most basic fundamentals are established by this stage. Congratulations to L-R: Khosi Mokoma (High Distinction); Isaac Tan (Merit) and Michael Yim (High Distinction) for successfully developing their skills to this level. All pianists attend lessons at Keyboardkidz Piano School which has teachers and branches throughout Brisbane. On to Grade 1 now!

Amongst the successful Beginner Grade Concert Certificate pianists in Brisbane during the recent midyear SCSM Intl. examinations, are L-R: Anshumaan Gautam (High Distinction); Aleyna Buhr (Distinction); Hunter Biti (High Distinction) and Vinki Chen (High Distinction). All students attend lessons with their dedicated teachers at the various branches of Keyboardkidz Piano School throughout Brisbane. Off to a great start!

Higher Distinction results were achieved by Cian Robinson (Preliminary Piano) and Milly Schick (Concert Certificate 3 Piano) during the SCSM midyear examinations held throughout Australia this year. Cian's and Milly's Brisbane-based teacher is Amanda Tibbett.

Amongst the large number of Queensland musicians who successfully completed their SCSM midyear music examinations are L-R Olivia Rolff and Isla Slamon, who both achieved 100% for their Junior level piano examinations. Every aspect of their performance was thoroughly and confidently prepared by their Brisbane-based teacher, Amanda Tibbett.

St. Cecilia offers a comprehensive and carefully graded programme of Theory of Music examinations, progressing from Beginner levels through to Grade 8 and Diploma studies.

Designed for students who wish to develop a thorough understanding of music, the programme encompasses rudimentary theory, music history, form and structure, melody writing, harmony and other essential aspects of musicianship.

The St. Cecilia Theory programme continues to be chosen by teachers and students seeking a structured and comprehensive approach to musical knowledge and literacy.

For students undertaking practical examinations, a St. Cecilia Theory certificate at the equivalent or a higher level may be used to claim exemption from the General Knowledge component of the corresponding practical grade examination.

Theory examinations are available in person, while students seeking greater flexibility may also undertake their studies through the St. Cecilia Online Theory Course.

Examiners were delighted to award the Licentiate Diploma with Honours to Queensland flautist Maria Brereton during the recent mid-year examination series in Brisbane.

Maria's recital showcased a programme of demanding and artistically compelling repertoire, including Handel's Sonata in B minor, Chaconne (Sigfrid Karg-Elert), Carmen Fantasy (François Borne) and Fantasy Sonata (John Carmichael). Her performance demonstrated the technical mastery, musical insight and interpretative maturity expected of musicians performing at this prestigious level.

Requiring a recital of between 40 and 55 minutes, the Licentiate Performance Diploma recognises a standard of artistry attained by only a select number of accomplished musicians worldwide. It represents a significant milestone in a performer's musical journey, acknowledging not only exceptional technical command but also the artistic depth and professionalism demanded of advanced recital performance.

The ever-increasing popularity of Drum Kit is reflected in the growing number of students choosing to undertake SCSM Examinations International performance examinations. With Drum Kit examinations available from beginner to diploma level, students throughout Australia, Singapore and New Zealand are developing their musicianship, technical skills and performance confidence through the SCSM examination system.

Congratulations to Tasmanian drummer Yee Coey Hung, whose outstanding performance in the recent June examination session in Hobart earned a High Distinction for her Concert Certificate Eight examination.

Yee Coey's polished technique, musical maturity and confident performance are a credit to her dedication and hard work, as well as to the expert guidance of her teacher, Jonathan Dieckfoss.
