Birdseed started as a passionate journey to learn more about the little, gluten-free “bird seed” grains - millet, quinoa, sorghum, amaranth, buckwheat, teff, Job’s tears. It seemed incredible to me that while these tiny powerhouses of nutrition are eaten daily in many countries all over the world, they are generally destined to be hung in a budgie cage or scattered on the ground for chooks to scratch at in Australia. All Birdseed products are made from freshly ground whole “bird seed” grains, blended with freshly ground bean flours – chick pea, mung, lentil and starches – potato & tapioca & white rice to create a range of light, workable, tasty flours for baking. Birdseed is food that is designed to be scrumptious, but at the same time good for you. The lack of gluten in these grains is not a disadvantage, rather it is adventure to find ways in which these grains can be used to create exciting food that nourishes the belly and tickles the tongue. One cake to make many cakes. Well I've scored a fair few goals in my baking adventures, but this cake has scored a mega goal. 😄💗😄 You know when someone is at the other end of the basketball court standing with their back to the basketball hoop waaaaaay at the other end of the court. And they throw the ball backwards and incredibly it goes straight into the basket!!! 🤗💃 Well, that's the kind of goal this cake has scored! 🤗💖🤗 Good on ya, Chick Pea Apple Cake. I guess you could say it is a bit like a maderia cake. Very light and fluffy, but not too spongy. I made this one with added lemon zest and drizzle lemon-matcha icing.👍😄👍 And it's pretty much all gone - Daz and the Grunkies came back for seconds! 😂😁😂
Tips: 1) use Granny Smith apples - no sugar and water added. 2) Use quality chick pea flour (should NOT taste bitter). 3)The mix will smell beany, but this will bake out. Tag me with your creations

Easy, healthy 💖KISS BISCUITS💗 Now for those who aren't Aussies, Kiss Biscuits are thin biscuits sandwiched together with jam and then iced and sprinkled with 100s and 1000s. Usually they're a buttery (or margarine 😣😲😩) and sugary affair....but I've put the healthy hug back into Kiss Bikkies! 😂😂😂
I've been soooooooo flat-out marking and report writing ALLLLLLLLLLL day! Yes! ALLLLLLLLLLL day. AĹLLLLLLLLLL DAY! But I did find a moment...and I mean just a moment this afternoon to knock these babes up! They are super easy to make. I lourve me a kiss bikkie!👫 Perfect with a cuppa...hmmm how about a ...🤗💖☺. 💗KISS BISCUITS💗
1 cup chick pea flour
1/2 cup rice flour
1/2 cup tapioca starch
1/4 -1/3 cup agave sugar
Big pinch salt
100g coconut cream/milk
Blitz in a food processor Wrap in cling film and refrigerate for 30 mins. Roll out thinly between sheets of baking paper, cut out rounds and bake for 10mins in a 180oC. Sandwich with jam of choice (chia seed jam would be perfect). Ice with coconut milk - icing sugar or agave sugar and a drop of colour. I used my plum jelly to colour the icing...soooooo B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L🤗😋🤗). Sprinkle with natural colour 100s and 1000s. 😀ENJOY!!💖☺💖

Stewing some plums this evening made me think of these MUFFNUTS. I used the plum syrup to colour the cashew icing on these fancy ol' cupcakes (aka Muffnuts). Plus, Miss B asked I could make them on the weekend....and given that she's away on her first high school camp...I cannot say "no". When the Grunkies were little, I used to look at them and amaze to think that one day they'd be big high school girls...and now they are!!! 😲 Goodness, goodness me! 🙈 I hope my Miss B is having a wonderful time making new friends.

I'll pop the recipe in the comments.😀 Just a note, at any stage, if you need to avoid nuts - just use sunflower meal or pepita meal instead. 🤔 Tiger nut meal would also work, if you can find it.

These little spiral cookies are just leftover dough from the turtles and teddy bears.🤗 Just roll out your dough between sheets of greaseproof paper. 🤗Lay the choc layer on top of the plain and roll up using the greaseproof. Pop in the fridge and allow to chill. Cut into rounds and bake in 170oC oven for 10 - 15 mins. Dip in choccie and giggy up.

These are really perfect for little lunchboxes and big lunchboxes too 🙈, especially if you make then nut-free. I'd recommend using 💚tiger nut meal💚 as it's naturally sweet and just so delish!!! Hope your Tuesday is terrific. Hugs. Jx😚😙😚 PS. Full recipe in comments!!

🐻Teddy bear, Teddy bear turn around. 🐨Teddy bear, Teddy bear touch the ground. 🐼Teddy bear, Teddy bear say "good-night". 🐹Teddy bear, Teddy bear turn out the light" How many of you have heard this little bedtime rhyme?🤗 I used to play it with my little Grunkies when they were tots.💕And the other day Litte Miss and I made these adorable little🐻 teddy bear cookies🐻 for back-to-school, and as little tweets for my colleagues to celebrate the first week of school.💓 (It's the little things, folks. 👍It's the little things that can capture a moment in the day-to-day and change it from a drudge into a delight💖.) I'll pop the recipe in the comments, but please believe me when I say 👍1) they are soooooo easy to make, and 👍2) they are healthy!!! The only sugar (nearly) is banana, and the only fat is the flour you use and add in IF YOU WANT! Best recipe eva? You bet your pretty little cotton socks it is. 😂 I'm thinking of 💕Valentine's tweets 💓next....ideas are a bouncing around my head like 😉 popcorn in a pan!

Who'd like a healthy custard fruit tart? Oh yeah! Me me me!! Introducing 💓BANANA PASTRY LEMON CUSTARD TARTLETS with summer fruits💓 So delush! So easy! 👍 Just blitz a ripe banana with flour/meal to make a smooth dough that is not too sticky. Roll out between baking paper, cut out shapes and place into tins. Blind bake for 10 mins. To make the Tofu Custard just blend soft tofu with lemon zest, juice, icing sugar and salt. Pour into pastry shells. You can either bake the fruit in with the custard, or add the fruit on top after they're baked. Bake in 160oC oven for around 15mins.🤗 Yummm! 🤗 So 💖divine and 💖healthy.

I'm sure that it's still 💖Valentine's day somewhere in the world. Or if it's not....then it's totally me to be belated.😮..I'm a shocker for forgetting, or delayed remembering ANY special day🙈 (including my children's birthday😣 - don't judge me....please!😔) I made these 👍easy-peasy banana squeezy cookies ❤(banana, almond meal, buckwheat, tapioca starch, vanilla extract, salt - full recipe in last 12 posts😂....I'm on a banana bender at the moment.😀 Or maybe I am a banana....bender!😉). Little Miss helped me cut out the💓 hearts💓 and we sandwiched together with my raspberry-chia seed jam💖, dunked them in choccie 💚and glammed them up with pistachio💙. 🤗Apricot slice dreaming.🤗 The lovely combination of a coconut cream biscuit-scone base, a layer of salted caramel and piquant apricot to top. M-mmmmmmm-M! 💓💖💓 Dang! I must find the recipe! 😂😂😂😂

Procrastibaking at its best! 🙈 Oh my! But it's all worth it. This is a 💚MILLET PLUM CAKE💚 made with foraged plums. There are lots of rogue plum trees around us, so we made the most of it and have been picking some each time we go for a walk after dinner. All gone now, but wonderful while they're in season. I love using millet in cakes. Dry roasted and blitzed to a course meal, it is similar to polenta. I need to tweak the recipe as it's not exactly the very best it can be. But trust me - it's a joy.

Daz has put a documentary "The Divided States of America". I am gobsmacked to be honest. I've been watching Trump and Conway in press interviews recently, and I'm gobsmaked! It beggers belief that they're getting away with the things they're saying and what they're NOT saying.😠Can the Republican party get rid of Trump in a vote of no confidence? Because they need to ditch him and fast! Crrrrrrrraaaaazy!😫😣😲

Does anyone know the collective noun for a group of turtles? 🐢 Anyone?🐢 How about a bunch of cuties? Aren't these just the sweetest little guys?🐢 My niece's first word was turtle. She used to pronounce it with such articulation, sounding the second 't' like it was a bell: "tur-tle" We used to get her to say it as it sounded so cute.💕🌼💕 Just like group of....? Cuties?😂
These turtle cookies are based on a video by Miss B and I saw them and thought - giddy up - let's get "turtling"!😉 I used banana as the fat/sugar base for my cookies, so that only a little sugar was required, or even none, if you want.🤗 With ALL my recipes - the sugar quantity is ALWAYS up for reduction to suit all tastes! In fact, don't ever think you have to accept the written quantities for things in recipes. They can ALL (fat, sugar, flour types, salt) be modified. ALWAYS - I promise.👍
