The sun was shining, lunch and party food were served and our school came together to support our resident Essendon supporter to celebrate 8000 days since Essendon has won a final (thanks to Tay our football guru for organising the celebration).

We are excited to welcome an addition to the Launceston Big Picture School Library.

Universal Conflict: The struggle written by one of our very own advisors, David Claridge.

As a school that values reading and exploring passions, it is wonderful to have this book.

Dave's book is already creating excitement, with two of our students eager to be among the first to borrow and read it.

Supporting local authors, especially those who inspire our students every day in the classroom, reflects our commitment to fostering a love of reading while celebrating creativity within our school.

Thank you, Dave. We are proud to have your hard work on our library shelves.

Students have been assisting Lars, an ecologist employed by UTAS, to run the community garden in front of the museum. They have been spreading pine mulch.

Next to our school, a large native vegetation site is being created. It will be incorporating native grasses, shrubs and ephemeral water features. Lars is hoping to increase insect biodiversity, and create a habitat for frogs, birds and other wildlife.

It was wonderful to see everyone engaged in the task and working together to create a space for our community to enjoy!

On Friday, 10th July, we held our "Big Freeze for MND" fundraiser.

Nominated staff were subjected to various times in an ice bath, with additional tortures selected via the "Polar Punisher". Over $1k was raised to go towards MND research!

Well done to Abbie and Darcy for organising this event, and thanks to all those that donated and braved the icy water for a good cause.

Our Year 11 and 12 students recently had the opportunity to visit Headspace, where they enjoyed a guided tour of the facilities and learned about the range of services available to support young people's mental health and wellbeing.
A highlight of the visit was catching up with Sophie, our school nurse, who also works at Headspace. Students were able to hear about her role within both the school and Headspace, helping them better understand the support networks available to them both in and out of school.
Thank you to the Headspace team for welcoming us and providing such an informative and engaging experience. Visits like these help students build awareness of the resources available in our community and reinforce the importance of seeking support when needed. πŸ’š
