Our year 4/5/6s participated in Write a Book in a Day this week and absolutely loved it. Students spent time in small groups planning, drafting, editing, and illustrating their own original books, while also including some specific parameters around setting, characters, vocabulary, and a Tasmanian element. They also enjoyed some platters to keep them fuelled throughout the day.

We’re looking forward to reading their final publications and sharing some of these with the group next week!

Yesterday our SRC executive, house captains, and year 5 student leaders went on an excursion to the Salvation Army to engage in volunteer work. We learnt about the incredible services that the Salvation Army offers and helped to prepare some food and toiletry packs.

In total, our students made 75 school snack packs, 25 toiletry packs, 18 recipe bags, and 144 toasted sandwiches, all in the space of 53 minutes if anyone was counting!

Overall, our students had a blast and we’re very grateful to the Salvation Army not only for hosting us, but for all the work they do within our schools and community.
