August Calmbirth Wrap-Up
The class for August is complete... and this one was a little trickier than usual, with sickness and rescheduling along the way.
When you work for yourself, unexpected changes can be challenging, so I’m especially grateful to these couples for their flexibility, patience and understanding. Thank you! 🤍
And of course, there was plenty of deliciousness to enjoy along the way! We finished of Sunday with...
💚 Torta Caprese – Flourless Chocolate Almond Cake
💚 The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies Ever
Plus some whipped cream, because why not.
Want the recipes? Inbox me or send me a message and I’ll happily share them.

From “OK” to “Very Confident”: A Mum’s Calmbirth Journey
Here is a summary of some feedback I received recently from a new mum who somehow found the time during those busy newborn days to fill out the Calmbirth® after-the-birth evaluation form.
Thank you so much, I loved hearing about your experience and how Calmbirth® supported you through your birth.
From “OK” to “VERY CONFIDENT”... that’s what Calmbirth® can do.
Her labour was induced and, despite some unexpected challenges along the way, including continuous monitoring, an IV and her baby’s heart rate dropping, she remained calm, in control and powerful.
She went on to have a vaginal birth with assistance, using no analgesia and drawing on a wide range of comfort measures including breathing, movement, massage, TENS, heat, shower, vocalisation and acupressure.
Her overall satisfaction with Calmbirth® 10/10.
She described Calmbirth® as “amazing and so beneficial” and shared: “Cherie was amazing and led some beautiful, relaxing classes.”
She also felt her partner gained valuable tools to support her through labour, along with a much better understanding of the physiology of birth.
Despite her birth taking an unexpected turn and some of her birth intentions no longer being possible, she was able to use the tools she had learned to navigate a challenging and intense labour.
And the best part of all? “Meeting my daughter.”
Skin-to-skin within the first hour, breastfeeding soon after birth, and a beautiful reminder that birth doesn't always go exactly to plan... but feeling informed, prepared, supported and confident can make such a difference.
And the final message to me...“Keep doing what you’re doing”
Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

One of the best parts of teaching Calmbirth is hearing from the couples who have attended my classes.
A big thank you to Eliza and Diesel for sharing their experience after completing Calmbirth. It was really special to be part of your journey, especially knowing you both personally and watching you prepare to welcome your beautiful twin boys.
"We loved this course, as a young couple it was so helpful to have someone go through every aspect of what a birth can look like. Nothing was presented in a way to scare you, if anything it made you think about your options. If something was to happen unexpectedly at our birth we feel prepared enough to take it calmly and not as a negative but just as the journey you have to go through to meet your little ones."
"Calmbirth has helped us to feel more prepared than ever when it’s time to welcome our twin boys. We learnt so many things about not only giving birth and what the possibilities of that looking like are but also how to use the Calmbirth tools to be able to take any challenge that might arise and switch it from a negative to one step closer to meeting your little one’s. The environment was so welcoming and judgment free, we never felt out of place. Diesel and I are so excited to welcome these boys into the world now especially doing Calmbirth, we’re both on the same page and have the same tools for him to be able to support me and for me to have as positive of a birthing experience as we can. We would highly recommend this course, it was such a positive experience and eased any worries we both had about birth as we now have the knowledge to be able to face whatever comes our way during that time."
Thanks Eliza and Diesel, for your review. I can't wait to meet your gorgeous twin boys.

So excited for Grandbaby #2, another precious girl to join our family.
I loved having Wes and Libby in my Calmbirth class recently. I asked them what really sticks in their minds from the class. Here is what they said.
Libby: Doing Calmbirth gave us the knowledge and confidence to feel more prepared for birth. It was incredibly empowering to learn how the female body is naturally designed for childbirth, and how our hormones work together to support and guide the labour and birth process.
Wes: Calmbirth provided a great outline of how I can help Libs throughout her pregnancy and labour. It really opened my eyes to the many ways I can offer support. Thanks to the skills and knowledge I gained, I am now looking forward to the labour process and feel excited to support my wife.
Some of Wes' mates have also done Calmbirth. I love hearing the dads chat about the classes, pregnancy and birth. Over the years there has been a real shift. Now I'm hearing dads telling their partners, "We need to do Calmbirth!" They actually love it just as much as the mums, if not more. They leave feeling like they have a plan and purpose in the birth space.
We can't wait to meet this little one. Not long to go, Wes and Libby. ❤️

Thank you for another encouraging review.
One of the things I love most about teaching Calmbirth is seeing couples grow in confidence as they learn more about birth, their options, and the practical tools they can use along the way.
Every birth journey is unique, but being informed, prepared and supported can make a real difference to how you approach the experience.
If you're expecting a baby and would like to feel more confident and prepared for birth, I'd love to support you through one of my upcoming classes.

Community and Connection
A wonderful morning at the Pregnancy Support Group on Sunday with lactation consultant Dianne Haworth.
Di shared a wealth of knowledge, practical advice and real-life stories to help empower and support mums as they prepare for their breastfeeding journey. It was fantastic to see so many questions asked and answered, with everyone benefiting from the discussion. I was also delighted to have a grandmother and a mum with her baby join us, adding valuable experiences and perspectives to the conversation.
A huge thank you to Di for generously sharing your time, expertise and passion with us once again. I am so grateful for your ongoing support of local families.
Thank you also to everyone who came along and contributed to the morning, and to Sweetbrew Tatler Lane by Sweetbrew for looking after us so well with excellent service, delicious food and drinks in the perfect setting for our gathering.
Over the past three years of running these workshops, I am incredibly thankful for the many women who have spoken and presented at these workshops. The willingness to share your knowledge, experience and expertise in your chosen areas has benefited so many local families, and I am truly grateful for the time and generosity each of you has given.
While this was the final official Pregnancy Support Group in its current format, I am already working on a new idea for this workshop. It may look a little different, but the focus on connection, support and community will remain the same....so watch this space.
I love bringing mums together in a warm, supportive space where they can connect, learn, share experiences and feel supported throughout their journey into parenthood.
