Exciting news!! If you are on the Gold Coast on July 18/19th and you would love to spend 2 whole days learning or brushing up on your drawing skills, I would love to see you at this course which Artable is holding at Broadbeach Royal Queensland Art Society. Remember that drawing can be just a beautiful time to slow down and look at everything in a new way or practising drawing also really builds your confidence and will allow you to try out painting in the future. So exciting to see these animals come out of the page. The Monday Drawing Academy are learning how to create textures with charcoal. One of the biggest skills to learn is how to embrace the beautiful mess and chaos that is charcoal.

Izzy has officially leveled up to our Senior Monday Class, and we are switching gears from delicate birds to bold textures of larger animals. Her next challenge? Here are some Banksy inspired pen and ink drawings created by students a couple of years ago in the Monday Senior Teens class. I think I should do this project again some time soon. They used their own reference images they found and then created their own simplified shadow shape designs.

Watching Abbie grow this year has been incredible. After moving up to our senior class, she took on the challenge of the reductive graphite method to create this stunning, dreamlike fantasy piece.

From practicing hair textures and thumbnail studies to blending a Death Head Hawkmoth into a surreal portrait, she has proven that "drawing realistically" isn't a wall—it's a door she just walked right through. We are so proud of the storyteller and artist she is becoming! 🦋🖋️

Emily is trying out pastel pencils for the first time and she is adapting the reductive method of drawing with an eraser to this medium. Cant wait to see this finished.

Drawing with white chalk was so fun with all these bugs. Congrats to the youngest members of the school.

Charlie is currently deep in the zone, crafting a stunning surrealist drawing that blends the beauty of flowers with the human face. For Charlie, the magic is all in the details—he could spend hours lost in the rhythm of shading, perfecting every shadow and highlight.
