šØ Big News! Pop in, get inspired, and cast your vote! āØ
Hello Drawing Room and Drawing Academy community!
I am so excited to share that I have a charcoal landscape drawing hanging at the Earth and Community exhibition, hosted in the brand-new entrance hall at the Albert Hall!
The Launceston Art Society has put together one of their biggest exhibitions yet, packed with incredible local talent. There is also a Peopleās Choice Award, and Iād love for our community to get involved! While Iād be absolutely thrilled to have your vote, itās even more important to come in, support local art, and cast your honest vote for your favorite piece.
If any of our Academy students visit, I canāt wait to hear their thoughts when classes return next term!
Don't waitāthe exhibition closes this Wednesday, June 24th! You only have three days left to check it out (and who knows, you might even be inspired to join the Art Society yourself!).
Have a wonderful break, and I look forward to seeing everyone in Term 3 after I get back from Queensland! āļø

Anyone up for a whole day of life drawing in October? #
Join us for a 1-day Long Pose Life Drawing Workshop with Manuela Pilz.
This immersive workshop is dedicated to the artistry of the long pose, giving participants the opportunity to move beyond quick sketches and develop a more refined, detailed study of a seated model.
Working with toned paper and black and white charcoal, participants will explore form, volume and nuance, with structured block-ins, guidance and feedback throughout the day.
Model fees included. All levels welcome.

We are coming to the end of this charcoal course in which we tried to get to grips with dealing with textures of some our favourite animals.

The Monday Drawing Academy dove into large A2 portraits of animals using wonderful messy charcoal . Here they learned a few tricks to help them get proportions as their reference photos were small and how to create texture using erasers. We had so much fun.

Exciting news!! If you are on the Gold Coast on July 18/19th and you would love to spend 2 whole days learning or brushing up on your drawing skills, I would love to see you at this course which Artable is holding at Broadbeach Royal Queensland Art Society. Remember that drawing can be just a beautiful time to slow down and look at everything in a new way or practising drawing also really builds your confidence and will allow you to try out painting in the future. Contact me or Artable if you would like to know more about it.
