Our student leaders were recently inspired by a special guest during Legacy Time, with Joshua Williams, 2nd Officer aboard The Spirit of Tasmania, sharing his remarkable journey and lessons learned along the way. Joshua’s story and message was powerful: success is not always a straight path. Through grit, a willingness to try new things, and the courage to step outside your comfort zone, opportunities can appear in places you never expected. His story demonstrated how chasing your dreams can often involve turning unfamiliar corners and embracing challenges along the journey.

Working from what he described as “the best seat on the ship” - the Bridge, or cockpit of the vessel - Joshua gave students a fascinating insight into life at sea. From safely navigating Bass Strait to helping guide the brand-new Spirit vessels from Finland to Devonport, his adventures captured everyone’s imagination. Equally inspiring was his emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.

We thank Joshua for sharing his time, experiences and wisdom with us, and for encouraging our students to pursue their own journeys with confidence and determination.

Our Early Learning and Kinder students had a wonderful time celebrating Father’s Day (a little early)! ✨

As part of the morning tea, Mr. Bristow read aloud the picture book, Happy Father’s Day from the Crayons by Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers.
In the story, each colourful crayon character shares just how much they love their dads, and the other special father figures in their lives, from grandfathers to uncles and family friends who show up for them every day.

Mornings like this are a wonderful chance to bring our community together and celebrate the incredible people helping our students grow into kind, confident, and capable little humans.

Book Week 2026! 📚🌟

We were very lucky to welcome Aunty Lola Greeno, a proud Palawa woman from Truwana/ Cape Barren Island, to our school. She generously shared her stories, culture and artwork with our students.

Our students got an up-close look at Aunty Lola's reconciliation necklace, with its beautiful black and white pattern - a design passed down to her by her mother, representing Indigenous and non-Indigenous people coming together to create something beautiful.

Our students then worked alongside Aunty Lola to weave their own reconciliation string using black and white raffia and had a go at painting clay petroglyphs in ochre colours.

Soon we'll be bringing the two together to create our very own secret story petroglyphs, ready to hang!

This week served as a wonderful reminder that great scientific thinking often begins with something very small: a question, an observation, an idea or simply the curiosity to ask, “I wonder why?”

Adopting this sense of curiosity, we fully embraced National Science Week and delved into this year’s theme of ‘Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all’.

Mr Green and Mr Barnes showcased incredible experiments for our students. Some of which were completely mind-blowing!

Dr Karl also dropped in via Zoom for a very informative Q&A. With questions such as: How do electric fences work? How do bees make honey?

Every seed we nurture today becomes tomorrow’s thriving garden, just as every young mind we inspire today shapes the future. And that is exactly what our educators offered this week!

The seeds have certainly been planted. Now, let’s see what grows!🌱

And that’s a wrap on Winterfest 2026! ❄️ Thank you to The Parents of The LPS and the many members of our community for creating such a magical evening.

It was an absolute delight to see everyone come out in full swing, despite the chilly weather, for some fun and even a dance!

After practicing throughout the day with the Billy Tea Bush Band, our students were excited to showcase their new moves.

Our beautiful Winterfest Belonging Tree, created by Angie Dai, is an incredible showcase of our school’s values. Each message left on the tree showed gratitude, kindness and appreciation. A reminder that belonging is built through the care and connection we show one another each day.
