This week served as a wonderful reminder that great scientific thinking often begins with something very small: a question, an observation, an idea or simply the curiosity to ask, “I wonder why?”
Adopting this sense of curiosity, we fully embraced National Science Week and delved into this year’s theme of ‘Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all’.
Mr Green and Mr Barnes showcased incredible experiments for our students. Some of which were completely mind-blowing!
Dr Karl also dropped in via Zoom for a very informative Q&A. With questions such as: How do electric fences work? How do bees make honey?
Every seed we nurture today becomes tomorrow’s thriving garden, just as every young mind we inspire today shapes the future. And that is exactly what our educators offered this week!
The seeds have certainly been planted. Now, let’s see what grows!🌱

Make a Difference. Leave a Legacy.
At The Launceston Preparatory School (The LPS), we believe primary education should do more than prepare children for the next year of school.
It should prepare them for life.
We are seeking an outstanding Upper Primary Teacher who is passionate about exceptional teaching, meaningful relationships and the development of capable, thoughtful and confident young people.
This is an opportunity to join a small-by-design school where teachers know their students deeply, where every child matters, and where professional relationships, high expectations and intellectual curiosity sit at the heart of our work.
Our school is built around a simple belief:
Be Thoughtful.
Thoughtful in how we plan, teach and enrich.
Thoughtful in how we lead.
Thoughtful in how we speak to children.
Thoughtful in how we challenge them.
And thoughtful in how we contribute to the community around us.

And that’s a wrap on Winterfest 2026! ❄️ Thank you to The Parents of The LPS and the many members of our community for creating such a magical evening.
It was an absolute delight to see everyone come out in full swing, despite the chilly weather, for some fun and even a dance!
After practicing throughout the day with the Billy Tea Bush Band, our students were excited to showcase their new moves.
Our beautiful Winterfest Belonging Tree, created by Angie Dai, is an incredible showcase of our school’s values. Each message left on the tree showed gratitude, kindness and appreciation. A reminder that belonging is built through the care and connection we show one another each day.
Wishing you all a wonderful Term 3! ✨

Today’s ANZAC Day service, led by our Legacy Leavers, was a meaningful and respectful tribute to those who have served and sacrificed for our country.
We were especially fortunate to welcome Mai Frandsen, a current serving member of the Australian Army, who generously took the time to speak with students and answer their questions. Her insights and experiences made the day even more impactful and memorable.
Thank you to everyone involved in organising this special event, and to our school community for showing such thoughtful reflection and respect on this important day.
Lest we forget. 🌺

We were fortunate to welcome Legacy Guest Leader, Brandon Krapf, an American who now proudly calls Tasmania home. Brandon spoke with our students about what success looks like to him, sharing stories from his personal journey and the lessons he has learned through hardship, purpose, and perseverance. His reflections on leadership, GRIT and growth were inspiring and offered valuable insight for our budding leaders at The LPS.
Trusted Smiles 😁

Our library doors swung open this morning and, like a good story, people just kept arriving ✨
We were so delighted to welcome so many family members in to celebrate 'Tasmania Reads!' with us, thanks to Libraries Tasmania. There was a gentle hum in the air, pages turning, imaginations whirring, and just a little bit of bookish magic tucked into every corner.
Exactly how a library should feel! 🪄
