Cathkin Co Trained Orton-Gillingham Literacy Specialist I am Cath Ralston and my business name is Cathkin Co.

I am a post-graduate qualified literacy educator, having worked in the field for 17 years in various locations around Australia with diverse students. This includes students with intellectual disability and neurodiversity as well as second chance learners. I have specialized in the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading and writing in a 1:1 setting. Orton-Gillingham is an evidence-based approach to learning to read and write. It was initially designed for students with dyslexia and is now recognized as useful for struggling readers and writers of any age. It is often recommended by speech pathologists as it works on the relationship between sounds, speech, reading and writing, using multisensory techniques. This highly effective teaching method is structured and systematic at the same time as being flexible and kind. Using strengths-based practices, it quickly builds learners’ confidence.
