The Cackle Club

Since returning to Tasmania in 2008 I have loved being a part of the Pagan community and loved attending and running events. The monthly moots/dinners have been wonderful over the years fostered by an amazing group of wise and sharing people.

I want to give a big thank you to everyone who has held the reins in running our dinners over the years and also to everyone who has given their time.

We've seen the numbers ebb and grow over the years and had an amazing line up organised by Julia and Belinda over the last 12 months. Unfortunately lately, actual numbers are low and attendance random and it's disheartening. We know the worlds scary and tough out there right now so we have decided we all need a rest.

So we will be hibernating from our dinners until they restart in October. We will notify if there are any changes in September. We are hoping there may be another couple of events hosted by The Cackle Club by the end of the year, like we did recently with a workshop.

The fb group will still remain active though and we hope you'll stay in touch.

I hope everyone is well.
I just wanted to remind everyone we now have a private group for The Cackle Club and I'm hoping you will join us there as that's where the action is these days.
I thought it might be a good time to remind people why we've made this change after so many years. Firstly it was time for me to take a break, over the 17 years I've done it before (self care is important!) and the ground never swallowed up the group then and I have complete faith it won't now.
Secondly when I made the original group, I had no thought about whether I could add admins to it to help me and it turns out I can't. That just made it impossible for Julia and Belinda to step in as needed (and trust me we tried). On the original page they can't see all the attendees to events, so I would still need to manage events and then let them know for bookings purposes.
Over the years I've had some people tell me they can't post on the public page for fear of someone recognising them online and judging them or that they can't be in photos for the same reason. A private group might not be everyone's preference but at least you get that choice. You don't have to change the way you interact. If you didn't post before, you aren't being made to there. You can just continue to see events and click going and have as much or as little interaction as you wish.
Sure the numbers are never going to match, the private group will never be as big and you know what, we wanted it that way. There are a lot of very welcome 'supporters' on the public page (whom I am forever grateful for), a lot I personally invited. Many don't live in Tasmania, some don't even live in Australia. This group isn't about follower numbers, it's always been about providing a safe space to explore extraordinary things.
We have one more event for the year, we hope you can join us.
