Year 5 Excursion – Beaconsfield Mine and Brady’s Lookout

Students enjoyed a fantastic excursion to the Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre as part of their HASS unit on colonial life. Exploring the museum's displays and historic mining equipment, they discovered how gold was found in the Tamar Valley and imagined what daily life was like for the miners and families who lived and worked in the area in the 1800s.

The students then visited Brady's Lookout, where the sweeping views over kanamaluka (the Tamar River) provided a meaningful setting to learn about the palawa people, the Traditional Custodians of this land, and their deep and continuing connection to Country.

It was a valuable day that helped the students compare different perspectives on Tasmania's past and appreciate the rich histories and cultures of the region.

Class Mass - Prep.

Today we had the last class mass for this term. Prep had a lovely time learning about showing respect in the mass, saying prayers for our family and learning about compassion and the story of the good Samaritan. We were joined by some members from the local parish.
