📖 A Family Recipe Book in the Making! 🥄
We’re excited to share a new project underway at Lara Primary School — a Family Recipe Book celebrating the recipes, traditions, cultures and memories that are special to our families.
A group of students have already started working together, contributing family recipes and sharing the stories and traditions behind them. This project is a wonderful way to celebrate the diverse cultures and backgrounds that make up our Lara Primary School community, while helping students learn from and appreciate one another.
A big acknowledgement to Beenish Shamim for her wonderful idea and for her passion and dedication to bringing it to life. 👏
We can’t wait to see our community’s stories and traditions come together in the finished recipe book! ✨

🌟 Celebrating Another Wonderful Assembly 🌟
Last Friday, we came together for another wonderful assembly. Congratulations to all of our award winners! It was wonderful to recognise your achievements, effort and positive contributions.
We opened our assembly with a fantastic buddy performance from Prep C and 5/6S, introducing us to Herman the Worm!
Our students also nominated their favourite staff member this fortnight. Congratulations to Ms Roberts for being a kind and caring teacher.
A special thank you to our student leaders, who do such a fantastic job of leading our assemblies. 👏

🎉100 Days of Prep! 🎉
Last Wednesday, our Preps celebrated an incredible 100 days of school!
The gym was filled with smiles, laughter and some very grown-up-looking Preppies, as our students dressed up as if they were 100 years old!
It was such a fun morning celebrating this special milestone and everything our Preps have learned, achieved and experienced over their first 100 days of school.
A special shout-out to our wonderful Prep teachers for all their hard work, care and dedication throughout these first 100 days. Thank you for helping our newest students settle into school, learn, grow and make so many wonderful memories along the way. 🌟

🎶 A Week of Music and Community 🎶
Our school band had a very busy week last week.
The week began with a special performance for Lara residents, including members of the Lara Men’s Shed, Ingenia Lifestyle Village, Lara RSL and St Laurence Park, followed by morning tea with our student leaders.
That evening, the band performed for families, followed by performances for their fellow students on Wednesday.
To finish the week, the band performed at the Lara District Bendigo Bank Community Grants Night, with more than 80 community group representatives in attendance. They did a fantastic job representing our school! 👏
A huge thank you to Mr Whelan and Paul for all they do to make our band magic happen! 🌟
And the music doesn’t stop there! Next week, the band is embarking on a tour. Stay tuned as we share more from their tour! 👀🎶

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ District Athletics Success! 🏅
Congratulations to our incredible team of 36 Lara Primary School students who represented our school at the District Athletics Carnival on Tuesday.
Every student demonstrated outstanding determination, sportsmanship and school pride, giving their very best in each event. We are so proud of the way you represented Lara Primary School.
A huge congratulations to the 20 students who have qualified for the next stage of competition on 1 September. We wish you all the very best!
We'd also like to recognise some exceptional individual performances:
🌟 Phoebe and Jacob each achieved an incredible five first-place finishes in the 100m, 200m, long jump, triple jump and relay.
🌟 Mason claimed first place in the 100m, 200m, triple jump and relay.
Congratulations to all of our athletes on an outstanding day. We can't wait to cheer on our qualifiers at the next stage!

🎉 Congratulations to our Assembly Award Winners! 🎉
A big congratulations to all of the students who were recognised at our first assembly of the term on Friday.
We are so proud of your efforts, achievements and the positive way you represent our school values. Well done! 👏

🎨✨ A Lasting Legacy at Lara Primary School ✨
Our First Nations students have been working alongside Aboriginal artist BJ O'Toole to create a stunning mural near the basketball court, and it's incredible to see it coming to life!
This time-lapse captures the amazing progress so far, with the first mural set to be completed this Friday. We can't wait to share the finished artwork with our school community.
As part of NAIDOC Week, students also took part in inspiring education sessions with BJ, where he shared his journey as an artist, speaking about how his love of designing began from a young age. Students had the opportunity to learn about traditional tools that hold deep cultural significance to BJ and his people, making for a truly meaningful and engaging experience.
