🧪💧 OIL & WATER EXPLORATION!💧🧪

Our toddlers put on their little scientist hats and explored what happens when oil and water meet!👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

The children watched closely as the two liquids separated rather than mixing together, creating a wonderful opportunity to explore cause and effect, observation and early scientific thinking.🔍✨

Through this hands-on experience, our toddlers were encouraged to make predictions, notice changes, use their senses and develop their curiosity about the world around them.

Science isn't just for big kids — our youngest learners are busy asking questions, making discoveries and learning through play every day! 💚🌱

🔬✨ SCIENCE WEEK AT STORY HOUSE!✨🔬

Our little scientists have been busy exploring, experimenting, predicting and discovering during an exciting week of science! 🧪👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

💥 Monday – Sizzle & Fizz!
We kicked off Science Week with some exciting sizzle and fizz experiments! The children watched closely as ingredients reacted, creating bubbles, fizzing and lots of curiosity.

🚗🌊 Tuesday – Save the Cars & Sink or Float!
Our educators set up hands-on challenges where the children explored sink or float and experimented with different ways to save and rescue cars. Through play, the children investigated concepts such as weight, water movement and cause and effect.

🐛🌱 Wednesday – Growing Caterpillars!
We continued our science adventures by exploring the fascinating world of caterpillars! The children discovered how caterpillars grow and change as part of their life cycle, developing an interest in nature, living things and the world around them.

Across the week, our experiences encouraged children to be curious, make predictions, test their ideas, problem-solve and learn through hands-on exploration. 🔍💡

Because sometimes the best learning happens when we get a little messy, ask What will happen if…?” and discover the answer together! 💚

Our team came together for an engaging and interactive professional development meeting focused on strengthening our knowledge, collaboration and commitment to providing the highest quality care for children.

The session included a fun Kahoot quiz where educators tested their understanding of our Child Safe Standards, policies, procedures and real-life scenarios, sparking meaningful conversations and reflective practice.

Together, we also explored two of Story House's key frameworks—We Care and Proudly Inclusive—reflecting on how these values guide our everyday interactions with children, families, and one another. We unpacked one of our centre policies, taking the time to discuss its purpose, expectations, and how it supports best practice across our service.
Our educators worked collaboratively on an activity, identifying the duties and responsibilities of an educator. This was a valuable reminder that every team member has a shared responsibility to uphold professional standards, create safe and inclusive environments and positively influence the learning and wellbeing of every child.

At Story House, we believe that continuous learning, collaboration and reflection are key to maintaining a culture of excellence and ensuring every child receives the highest quality education and care. 💙✨

Watching creativity bloom in the great outdoors! 🌿🎨

Today, one of our little artists embraced nature as both inspiration and a tool for creating. Using a leafy stick collected from our yard, they carefully dipped it into red paint and explored different marks, textures and patterns on their paper.

Nature art encourages children to see the world around them in new ways while supporting creativity, problem-solving and sensory exploration. By using natural materials instead of traditional paintbrushes, children develop their fine motor skills, experiment with cause and effect and build a deeper appreciation for the environment.

It's amazing to see how something as simple as a stick and a few leaves can spark such meaningful learning and imagination! ❤️🍃
