Long time MGoA member, Fran Henke has donated a painting to the Guild by McClelland founding artist, tutor and mentor, master painter John Balmain. Fran presented the painting to President Millie Rickards at the monthly artist demonstration last Saturday.

Saturday's demo was more about two artists having fun with each other than technique. Sitter, watercolorist Brian Williams, came with a range of headwear to tease his friend Peter Porteous. But Peter got down to business with a lot of back chat, asking his friend about national service, the drawings done during his time in Vietnam.
Takeaways from the demo...
*Vary brushstrokes to create movement
*Areas of paper with no paint give luminosity
*Make furtherest side of face less detailed
*Eyes and nose are the most important
The studio was packed and everyone had an enjoyable afternoon. .

This workshop will commence with a brief meditation to cultivate a focused mind and invite a natural flow of creativity. Then experiment with abstract styles while building experience across a range of mediums, including collage, ink, pastels, watercolours, and acrylic on canvas. A materials list will be supplied on booking.
