This workshop will commence with a brief meditation to cultivate a focused mind and invite a natural flow of creativity. Then experiment with abstract styles while building experience across a range of mediums, including collage, ink, pastels, watercolours, and acrylic on canvas. A materials list will be supplied on booking.

The aim of this workshop is to capture wildlife in motion in a loose, expressive and vibrant manner. Peter will work with you to produce two paintings - Hummingbird and Whale - from supplied reference images. A materials list will be supplied on booking.

On the first Saturday of the month we encourage all members and visitors to come and observe a professional artist at work. This month Narelle Callen will demonstrate how to scale up from a small work on paper to a large canvas in mixed media.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Due to the King's Birthday long weekend there will not be
an artist demonstration at the Studio on Saturday 6 June.

The next artist demonstration will be held on Saturday 4 July.

Maxine used 300gsm watercolour paper, starting it at home with a light pale wash using grey, brown and a green. She recommends you consider your colour choices rather than using many different colours. Ink was applied with a bamboo stick which created a scratchy line then a size 8 brush full of water was applied against the ink lines. Maxine says she likes to repeat colours in other sections of her paintings and also likes vertical lines that cut across forms. She finds odd numbers of birds, leaves, rocks etc. always works best. Thanks Maxine for a great demonstration. We all loved the final piece.

MAXINE WADE - STILL LIFE in Mixed Media Demonstration

Maxine’s demonstration is going to be something which she hasn’t produced before. She will work from some previous drawings, adding some collage elements, using inks, paint and graphite, with the theme of NATURE. But it won’t be a traditional still life or a vase of flowers!

What a journey! From the telly to our Gallery, we have loved every minute of Jenny Croom's presence in our lives.

As the winner of last year's on ABC iview, Croom's major prize was the opportunity to paint a career-changing commission and to have it hang right here.

We've had visitors from all over the country flock to see her highly admired portrait of chef and restaurateur Kylie Kwong and tell us all about their adoration for the show - we cannot wait for season 2!

'Kylie Kwong' 2025 by Jennifer Croom will be leaving us soon, be sure to see it before 27 April.
