Protective behaviours are life skills that help children
Recognise, React to, and Report risky or unsafe people
and situations. Even young children can learn these skills.

These posters have some helpful information on how families can promote and egage in safety chats with their children, and encourage protective behaviour skills.

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. You can support and get to know your local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities through activities and events held across the country.

Reading with the children is a meaningful way to create nurturing bonds and strong connections. Not only does it provide a safe space for children to explore emotions and process information - reading with children helps boost brain development, strengthen emotional bonds, and builds essential language, literacy, and cognitive skills.

We love exploring some risky play experiences throughout the day, especially on our fort and slide! We use our balance and coordination abilities to climb up the ladder, and then practice our turn- taking skills as we patiently wait for our turn to go down the slide! Risky play scenarios are a fantastic way for children to build resilience, develop and extend their spatial awareness, explore boundaries, and further explore their problem-solving abilities, all while encouraging their physical confidence!

Don't forget that we have our centre photos THIS WEEK, with Whimsy & Wild visiting each of the rooms to photograph the children on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday.

There are some new registration and ordering processes. If you haven't done so already, please make sure you register for photos, so your child doesn't miss out. We have posters in the front foyer with a QR code to scan and register your child for photos, or you can follow the below link to their website to register.

Please note: If you have not registered for photos, your child will not be photographed and will not be included in the group photos.
