It’s easy to say, “Work together.”

It’s different when students actually have something to work out together.

Who has an idea?

Who listens?

Who encourages someone else?

Who steps forward when the group gets stuck?

School camp gives students opportunities to experience those moments outside the usual classroom setting.

At Tunnel Ridge Ranch, outdoor activities and shared challenges give students a chance to participate, communicate and spend time with their classmates in a different environment.

There doesn’t always need to be a perfect result.

Sometimes the valuable part is simply figuring out how to do it together.

What might you notice about your students when they’re given a challenge outside the classroom?

You know your students in the classroom.

But what might you notice when you take them somewhere completely different?

The quiet student joining in.
A new friendship forming.
Someone encouraging a classmate.
Or students simply enjoying time together without the usual classroom routine.

That’s one of the things that makes school camp different.

At Tunnel Ridge Ranch, students have space to get outdoors, share new experiences and spend time together in a setting far removed from their everyday school environment.

The activities matter.

But sometimes, it’s what happens between the activities that teachers and students remember most.

Put students in a different environment, give them something to work through together, and you might see a different side of the group.

Someone steps forward.

Someone listens.

Someone offers encouragement.

And classmates who might not normally work together find themselves on the same team.

That’s one of the valuable parts of getting students outside their usual classroom routine.

At Tunnel Ridge Ranch, outdoor activities and shared challenges give students opportunities to participate, communicate and experience something different together.

It’s not just about completing the activity.

Sometimes, it’s about discovering how you work together along the way.

What would you love to see from your students outside the classroom?
