For children starting Kindergarten next year, Term 4 can be a lovely time to gently build familiarity with some of the routines and expectations of school.
Starting school is a big change. Even for children who are very settled at preschool or daycare, Kindergarten brings new routines, new expectations, new adults and a much bigger environment.
Our school readiness sessions give children the opportunity to practise some of these things in a new setting - including separating from parents, following routines, listening in a small group, managing their belongings, asking for help and becoming comfortable with a teacher they don’t already know.
A little familiarity with these routines can help school feel less new when the time comes.
We are looking at opening a Wednesday school readiness class for Term 4 and would love to hear from families who may be interested.
