Book Week is coming!
One of the central events for the library, Book Week is a celebration of reading, learning, and the pursuit of imagination through books, best described in this year's theme: Symphony of Stories.
This year, Book Week shall be celebrated at Lalor Secondary College between August 24th and August 28th , with activities each day in and around the Library for students to engage in. This includes our incredibly popular, fantastically exciting Dress Up Day and Competition!
Read below for a quick overview of events being hosted by the library throughout the week.
Monday: Quiz! Form a group or go it alone to win glory (and chocolates!) in a wide-ranging quiz that covers pretty much every topic you can think of!
Tuesday: Blackout Poetry! Take a stab at creating poetry, prose, or just something simply funny in blackout poetry!
Wednesday: Bookmark Making! Come on down and engage in some calming arts and crafts, designing your very own bookmark!
Thursday: Book Week Dress-Up Day and Competition! The defining event of Book Week, come to school dressed as your favourite character, and compete in the Costume Competition for some fantastic prizes, or just come by to see the incredible costumes on show!
Friday: Movie in the Library! We'll cap off the week in a more relaxing, low-key fashion, throwing on a movie that encapsulates the ideas and theming of this year's Book Week celebration.
So come on down to the library, have some fun, relax a little... and maybe borrow a few books along the way, as we're in the final month of the Premier's Reading Challenge too, so why not check off two tasks at once? Either way, we hope to see you there!
