St Therese’s Catholic Primary School Lakemba

Last week at St Therese’s Lakemba we celebrated International day of Play by doing a week of fun events. It included:
- 100 Years of St Therese’s Trivia- this year we are all learning about our school history as we prepare to celebrate our 100 Years later this year and 
- International day of Play - we competed in SCs Oz Tag, plus had games at school - including sports and board games and
- Football World Cup Jersey Day and Cake Stall- we celebrated the start of the Football World Cup. Mrs Mazzucco loves football and we had a day of wearing our favourite jerseys an then had a Cake Stall ! and 
- Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 had Movie Night last Friday Night where we watched a movie, did movie trivia and danced to the movie’s songs- what a night!

Our Stage 1 students had an amazing time at Sydney Zoo! 🦁🐒 Students explored a variety of animals while learning about their unique features, habitats, and how they survive in the wild. It was a fun and engaging day filled with curiosity, discovery, and lots of smiles! 🐾

🏆Celebrating First Place at the 2026 SCS Eisteddfod 🏆. St Therese’s is bursting with pride as we congratulate our Amadeus Extension String Ensemble on achieving 1st Place in the 2026 Sydney Catholic Schools Eisteddfod. This incredible result reflects the students’ dedication, teamwork, and passion for music.
We also extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to their talented tutors — Ms Vicky, Ms Bernadette, and Ms Eda — whose expertise, encouragement, and commitment made this opportunity possible. Their guidance has helped our students shine on stage and reach this outstanding achievement.
What a wonderful accomplishment for our school community. We are so proud of you all.

Yesterday staff of St Therese’s Lakemba participated in a faith formation day at the immersive exhibition Sistine Chapel: Revelations at St Mary’s Cathedral. What a breathtaking day we experienced, reflecting on Michelangelo’s frescos.
We then enjoying viewing and discussing religious art at the art gallery and attending mass at the cathedral.

Our students from the Specialist Support Class had a blast exploring The Curious World of Pamela Allen at the Mitchell Library! The day was filled with role-playing and singing as beloved stories came to life. We were also joined by our friends from Good Shepherd Hoxton Park, making the day even more special. We finished our adventure with a walk through the Botanic Gardens, retracing the steps of Alexander’s Outing. A wonderful day of friendship and literacy.

Today St Therese’s Catholic Primary School Lakemba was honoured with a visit from Ms Sophie Cotsis MP, Member for Canterbury, Minister for Industrial Relations and Minister for Work , Health and Safety.

Ms Gotsis spent time in our Specialist Support Classes, getting to know staff and students and spending time admiring our Specialist Support Class facilities.
We greatly appreciated her visit and look forward to having her back at St Therese’s Lakemba in the near future. Thank you Sophie!
