After a couple of years of inactivity on this page, I’m ramping things back up!

The photo below is my new recording/teaching space. I’ve got a couple of regular students coming and it’s been awesome.

I created this environment to be conducive to creativity and I really enjoying working here.

I want to help you reach your personal potential as a musician.

My most difficult but rewarding student ever - my son Zakk. Loves everything from the Beatles to black metal. Recently, he's just setup his own little studio area and is getting into recording with 'Reaper'. Making your own music and improvising is an amazing way to express yourself and really creates a blueprint of who the creator is. All the great players I know ; a lot of them my mates... when I listen to them as a player, I see and hear their personalities and inherent traits. It's really special, we are all individuals. I have a real passion for that and I'm keen to help each person I teach find their own unique voice.

One of the great tones we got yesterday with the axe fx going into an UA apollo 8. Steve Vai was my inspiration growing up as a late teen getting into shred guitar. Haven't played this since I was 18 or so but was a lot of fun playing on this guitar with this sound! It's a late 80s floral Jem neck on a same era RG body. Absolutely amazing neck and next level guitar. Would love to go revisit some of this old shred stuff for some fun. .

A little bit of footage of an improvised solo at the end of my band The Desert Bells rendition of a track, 'purple rain' at Cobblers Falcon on Sunday night. Improvising is an awesome way to add your own flavour at will to any musical composition or situation with spontaneity. It's something I can help you achieve, if you are willing to learn. One of the things that makes an amazing musician, in my opinion, is someone who listens and contributes thinking of the whole sound, not just as an individual player... staying conscious of how what you're playing is enhancing the 'whole'. I've been listening to lots of music tonight and paying extra attention to the vocals. Who are some of your favourite singers? Mentioning just one is almost impossible but Mick Hucknall from 'Simply Red' and Prince are two of the absolute best for me. I'd love to hear your thoughts ! Comment below 🤓

Learn in the comfort of my studio, a relaxed, fun and inspiring environment where we can tackle your individual needs the way no other school locally can. You're time is not just money - I personally care about all my long term students and it is of absolute importance to me that my students are progressing and having their needs met by the lessons. I prefer to teach 15+ but will teach anyone who can concentrate and has a desire to learn.

I'm out of the country playing for the next week but will be home from the 26th and will still be available for bookings via Facebook.

Just a heads up, Tuesday's and Thursday's are looking like the only days I'm going to be available at this stage. After school for kids, I have the days free for mature age students, happy to keep things casual for FIFO / Shift workers.
