Lake Macquarie Nature School

Hello everyone 🌻

It has been 6months since our last update on here and to be honest it has been a pretty quiet 6months for the team that are working behind the scenes here at LMNS.
Which means we won’t be open for enrolment for 2025 😢

BUT…
Just a few weekends ago two of our amazing team members (who are Teachers) took the time to attend an amazing opportunity at in Port Macquarie and went along to their Mini Outdoor Learning Conference 🙌🏼
If you aren’t familiar to The Nature School in Port Macquarie I suggest taking a look at their social media 😍
They are a big part of our inspiration for getting our school off the ground ✨

So after hearing the back story of how they got their school off the ground and getting a very generous tour, it has given us more drive and more inspiration to maybe tackle this from a different angle.

So bear with us as we take a few steps back and try a different approach with this journey 🙏🏼✨

Again, if anyone knows anywhere in the Lake Macquarie region that may be leasing some land/existing dwellings, halls, old churches, pony clubs etc then flick us an email or DM 📲

2024 UPDATE ✨🌿

Apologies for being so quiet here on our socials.
The group working behind the scenes here at LMNS have not stopped brainstorming, discussing, communicating and networking with our local community to help push this dream further along in its progress.
Oh and also our main team member birthed a gorgeous baby girl over Christmas so things have been a little busy on our end 🤪

I wish we could have began 2024 with a “we found a location” but for now we have not yet locked in anything.

Though this does not mean we are not trying.
We have had meetings for many different location opportunities- some which fall through, some which are still in the pipe line and sounding positive and some we are yet to explore.

If anyone following our journey is experienced in detailed planning for large projects and wishes to jump on board then please reach out!

On the flip side, please sit tight with us and keep those fingers and toes crossed for us 🤞🏼❤️

It was so nice to have some returning faces again this year showing their continued support for our school. We received lots of positive feedback on our school master plan. It was wonderful to have some new support on board and loads of new followers on our social media pages.

We have been a bit quiet here on the page recently but we have been SUPER busy behind the scenes. We have met with some architects and a town planner and have been busy developing a detailed master plan for the school that we can take to our meetings with council, state MPs and other groups.

We have also been busy scouting/contacting potential location sites around the area.

We would love any input from our community on the master plan and if you have any other leads or support you feel may be a big help then please send us a message for more details as we will be holding a working group meeting next week and if your skills/knowledge is needed in our team we would love to invite you along!

Just a quick post to stay connected with our LMNS community on here while we are still working hard behind the scenes to secure a location for, hopefully now, a 2025 open date 🙏🏼

We want you all to know that this location process has been massive. We have foraged 🙊, inspected, scouted and had numerous emails and meetings with possible location owners/managers and each time unfortunately have been set back with some local council requirements for certain locations.

We have a new plan in place (and a few new members to the team) and a new approach that will hopefully bring some positive progress.

I know a lot of you were hoping to enrol your little ones next year and are now faced with having to make other decisions for education and we want you to know WE are also in the same boat with our own little humans so it only makes our drive, our passion and our commitment for getting this school off the ground even stronger!!

We will be releasing a post soon with info on how you can further support our progress for LMNS.

We have an update.

After almost 12 months of long, hard research, emails, documents, meetings, market stalls, television appearances, phone calls, applications and most of all location scouting, we come to you with the ever so sad and disheartening news that we were unable to lock in a location that meets council requirements before March 31st 2023. This means we are unable to register our school in order to open for enrolments for 2024 😭

I know!! We are just as sad as you guys and have been absolutely inundated with nothing but support and interest for our school to be up and running. We had managed to secure two potential locations, however they did not meet council requirements for an educational establishment.

So, with that being said, the group who are working hard behind the scenes to bring such a wanted and needed school to our community have decided to continue to move forward with our plans and try for a 2025 opening 🙏🏼

Please don’t lose hope for us and please continue showing your support for our school as the next few steps we are planning on taking will require all the support we can get from our community as we widen our search and aim for bigger plans ✨🌿
