Last week’s Halloween fun at Being Lake Haven had everyone searching, matching and giggling! 🕷️
Our spooky tuff tray invited children to notice details, find matching creepy crawlies, and work together with friends. Such wonderful teamwork and curiosity on display! 💜

🎃 Spooky Sensory Fun! 🕷️🧼
Our little learners explored all things squishy and spooky with two Halloween-themed sensory trays!

🕷 In the Spider Foam Hunt, children dug through fluffy shaving foam to uncover hidden creepy crawlies — building curiosity, focus, and fine motor skills.

🧙‍♀️ In the Halloween Tuff Tray, our babies enjoyed scooping, pouring, and sharing spooky textures as they explored the magic of sensory play together.

✨ Giving back this Christmas! 🎄
This year, our Being Lake Haven team chose to give back by donating our Christmas Party Fund to We Care Connect — an incredible local charity supporting disadvantaged children across the NSW Central Coast and Hunter. 💛

Our $1,700 donation was made during Poverty Week, which meant Hunter Financial tripled our gift — turning it into $5,100 for local families in need. 🙌✨

We’re proud to support this wonderful cause!

This hands-on experience challenged children to match colours and complete their own mats — building focus, problem-solving, and early maths skills along the way. 🧠✨

🎈 Exploring colour, texture, and cause and effect through play 🎨
Using balloons as brushes, the children in our babies room stamped, squished, and created - delighting in the colourful prints they made. A joyful sensory experience that encourages creativity, choice, and early learning.

📚✨ Book Week 2025: Stories in Action!
This week we brought two of our favourite books to life—Wombat Stew and Room on the Broom—through messy, magical play!

Children brewed gooey “stew” with mud and leaves, then whipped up colourful potions using droppers and rainbow water. A joyful way to connect literacy with sensory exploration and imaginative fun!

♻️ Creating with purpose! 🎨
This week the children worked together on a collaborative art project using a donated sign and recycled materials from our community. They glued, painted, and transformed the sign into something beautiful — while exploring their creativity and teamwork.

By role modelling reduce, reuse, recycle, we’re helping children understand what true sustainability looks like — and how their ideas can make a difference.

🌈 Rainbow Fish splashes and colourful maths! 🐠💦
Inspired by the book "The Rainbow Fish", children explored a vibrant water play provocation filled with coloured water and measurement tools.

As they poured, filled, and measured, they experimented with concepts like full, empty, and half — while mixing colours and discovering cause-and-effect through playful exploration.

🦕 Stomp, squish, and explore - dinosaur fun learning! 🌱
The children stomped toy dinosaurs into paint and pressed them onto paper — observing the shapes, textures, and patterns they created.

To extend the experience, our educators set up a chia seed sensory tray, inviting children to touch, feel, and imagine their dinosaurs roaming the savannah. A roar-some adventure that sparked creativity and curiosity through play!

🍃 Creating with nature and recycled materials
Leaves, flowers, sticks, and even bottle caps — our little artists combined natural and recycled materials to craft their own outdoor masterpieces.

This hands-on exploration of textures and colours sparked creativity, encouraged problem-solving, and nurtured a gentle respect for the world and its resources.
