Naturally reconnecting land, biodiversity and people, offering restoration expertise and services.

We are in the business of buying land which is environmentally significant, protecting it through a Trust for Nature covenant, and offering biodiversity and carbon services. We have protected over 10,000 acres for conservation, carbon and biodiversity.

850 Melbourne Yellow Gums in the ground. Or are they Mellow Yellow Gums? 🤔

Beautiful day for our All-in Team Planting at The Island, a property of epic scale adjoining the Werribee Gorge near Bacchus Marsh.

It’s always a pleasure for the office crew to close the lid of the laptops for a day and get grounded in what our work is about - restoring natural landscapes like this one.

These Yellow Gums (and they are Melbourne Yellow Gums) are one piece of our project that will see a biodiverse and self-sustaining native woodland ecosystem return to The Island.

How many Swift Parrots can you spot in the last photo? 🦜

What a treat to have flocks of these beauties have lunch with us while on site at our conservation property in Emu.

There were at least 30 hanging around! The joys of being out on the field.

Sometimes traditional seeding methods don't cut it.

Particularly on sites with less forgiving terrain, like our undulating Amphitheatre property that rises from 359m to 642m!

Cassinia's NatureLab created a solution with the 'Dozer Seeder', combing a direct seeding attachment with a bulldozer to enable seeding on slopey and rocky terrain.

It was first used at Amphitheatre in 2022 and is back to assist with remedial planting on the beautifully hilly site this year.

We'll leave no stone unturned to get to every corner of a landscape that needs restoration. Literally!

This project is funded by the Victorian Government’s Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action $77 million BushBank Program and Land Life Company. The BushBank program is restoring more than 20,000 hectares of land across Victoria to create healthy wildlife habitat and capture carbon.

Step 2 is a highly sophisticated process... clearly. 🦯

Over Summer, we wrapped our sixth harvest at our 35 hectare orchard in Tarrington, Victoria, making us the largest producer of edible wattleseed in Australia. A unique part of what we do that doesn't get much airtime.

Why wattleseed?

- It requires planet-positive farming which drives carbon sequestration and nitrogen fixation
- It's an ancient superfood! Used by Indigenous Australians for thousands of years, it's a nutrional powerhouse.
- The trees are naturally drought-tolerant, meaning the healthy grain crop thrives with the landscape

This tree-hitting action is a labor of love from a crew passionate about growing this environmentally sustainable superfood.

Penny had a conservation dream, and she made it happen with the help of BushBank.

Now, her 36.98 hectare property is covered with over 11,000 seedlings that are showing healthy signs of growth. 🌱

In 5, 10, 20 years... her private land will be a thriving forest for her, her family and generations to come to enjoy.

If you’ve got 20+ hectares of land in Victoria and a dream to see it restored, you don’t have to go at it alone. You can submit an Expression of Interest for funding and support through BushBank at cassinia.com/bushbank

30,000 seedlings to go! 🫪

That’s how many native Mallee trees and shrubs we’re planting this year at our Merrinee - Stage 2 site up in North East Victoria.

(In addition to 438kg of seed over 580km of seeding lines!)

It’s year 1 of this project that will see a total 1,119 hectares of land restored, playing a vital role in expanding the adjacent Murray Sunset National Park.

Here’s a little insight into the process... ➡️

Nothing short of an extravagant landscape, this is Amphitheatre. 🙌🏼

Like what you see? This spectacular conservation land of over 500 acres has been restored as part of the Victorian Government’s BushBank Program and we’re looking for its next steward.

With an 8.5 hectare domestic area and unmatched highlands views, Amphitheatre offers a peaceful yet wild lifestyle ready to be enjoyed by whoever is the next custodian of this land.

Any grass aficionados out there? 🌾

We had our first Autumn grass seed harvest a couple of weeks ago, and this is what we collected from a BushBank private landowner site!

Can you identify the grass?

This is Penny Roberts. She once had zero conservation knowledge or experience.

So, how did she end up leading the environmental restoration of a 36 hectare cleared property in Central Victoria?

Well, here’s a slice of her story...

If you’ve got 20+ hectares of land and a restoration dream like Penny, you too can apply for funding & support to make it happen through the BushBank Program: cassinia.com/bushbank

This revegetation in Newham has been co-funded by and the Victorian Government’s $77 million BushBank Program, which is restoring more than 20,000 hectares of land across Victoria to create healthy wildlife habitat and capture carbon.

A look behind the scenes at Tulillah. 👇

Ahead of our large-scale BushBank revegetation project at this whopping 1,500 ha site, our team hit the red dirt for a flash cultural survey with the First People of the Millewa-Mallee.

Tulillah sits within a highly significant cultural corridor with neighbouring properties to the east and north containing many registered cultural heritage sites

This survey is one step, but a cultural exclusion zone, use of cultural sensitivity overlays and the continued engagement of the FPMMAC will ensure this project is handled with care and respect.

Thanks to the FPMMAC team and cultural rangers for guiding us! We're honoured to walk this path together. ❤️💛🖤
