Yesterday we welcomed Alanna Golding from the Class of 2017 back into the school to speak to the brand new Year 11 VET Cookery class about her experience as a Chef for Lune Croissanterie!
During 'Begin' students got the opportunity to be inspired by Alanna's achievements working for the iconic Aussie brand and overseas at Disney World as well as get some in depth information on William Angliss Institute and her experiences studying there!
Everyone really enjoyed looking at some of Alanna's intricate cake designs and hearing about the 3 day croissant making process! She spoke wonderfully and was lucky to answer so many student questions!
A huge thank you to Alanna for coming back into the school and to Anna Flynn for inviting her into the classroom!
You can check out the Lune Croissanterie store in Fitzroy to see her in action!

Last Monday we welcomed T Kankindji from the class of 2015 back into the school to chat to the Year 12 Psychology students about her experience working as a mental health professional.
Before their final assessment, the class got the opportunity to hear a firsthand experience of the ups and downs of working in mental health, what to expect at university, and how to look after themselves while working and studying.
It was amazing to have T in the school during the first morning of classes in Ngurrak, our new building. T spoke wonderfully, linking her experiences back to what the students are studying.
A huge thank you to T for coming all the way from Melbourne and to Julie Carter for inviting her into the classroom. The session was a fantastic success!

A new school year starts just as my time has come to an end, and it's time for me to move on from Kyneton High School. But stay tuned for news about the continuation of the fantastic alumni program here at Kyneton High!
I’ve talked to and met some fantastic alumni - and I’ve loved being able to showcase and promote alumni stories, successes and achievements to the Kyneton community ❤
It’s been a pleasure hosting alumni at the school and a big “Thank you” to everyone who’s been involved with the program. It’s been a privilege getting to know all the amazing graduates and working with you to inspire the current students at Kyneton High School.

Alum Daniel Brown, class of 1999, left school and went on to become a Computer Programmer, an IT Company Executive, Entrepreneur and an Investor 🤩
He owns an IT Firm, Mining Company and a Self-Managed Superannuation fund – and can now add Board Game Developer to this extensive list of achievements! ✨
Daniel has taken the late 80’s family board game Cash Flow as his inspiration, and created a new updated version called 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺.
This entrepreneurial board game aims for family and friends to challenge each other, competing to see who can amass the greatest wealth and build the most extensive business portfolio, all whilst being challenged with glitches along the way such as bankruptcy, inflation rises, fines and rent!
Find out if you’re business savvy and a good strategist - or perhaps the next Kerry Packer, Gina Rinehart or Robert Holmes a Court!

Congratulations Daniel and we hope Australian Cash Stream is really successful for you! You can see more about the game here: www.cashstreamgame.com.au

Who remembers this?.... No school uniform for students at Kyneton High School from 1988 - 1993
"𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 "𝗻𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺- 𝗻𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲" 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀".
The School did not require students to wear a uniform from 1988 until a new uniform was reintroduced in 1993 following overwhelming support for it by staff, students and parents!
Here’s a Yr 10 class photo from 1988, whose teacher Greg Potter is still teaching here as a casual relief teacher! 🙌👏

How do you change careers from a Music Teacher – to a Pilot?!
👨✈️ ✈
Bevan May did exactly this on the cusp of COVID, taking flight with a brand-new career pathway.
𝘼𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡: I studied a double degree in Music and Teaching, before working as a music teacher in a High School for 8 years.
𝙉𝙤𝙬: I’m a Pilot with Rex Airlines.
𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙖 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝙩𝙤 𝙖 𝙥𝙞𝙡𝙤𝙩:
I was always interested in flying and aviation, so when I was 32 I applied for a Cadetship through Rex Airlines to become a pilot. I worked really hard to get accepted into the Cadetship program and moved to Wagga Wagga (where Rex are based) to study and train.
𝙁𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙖𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙟𝙤𝙗: I enjoy the technical aspects to flying with the engineering and science behind aviation - plus the view out of my ‘office’ window every day!
𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡: To become a Captain
𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨: There are various ways to get into the aviation industry and it's possible for anyone if you're prepared to put in some effort.
Being a pilot is still a male dominated industry, we need more females to get involved! Airlines are also looking for Leadership skills in applicants.
Thanks for sharing your interesting post-school journey and change of career Bevan, and welcome to the alumni program!
