Thursday 10 September was an amazing day for many of our Year 12 students... It was University of Newcastle early entry day! To see so many of our students open the emails and gain entry to their first choice of course at their local university, is a fabulous achievement that deserves to be celebrated. We are fortunate to have an incredibly supportive Careers Teacher in Mrs Tilden, who guided these students through the early entry process.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR YEAR 12 SBAT STUDENTS. Completing an SBAT alongside their senior studies is a fantastic achievement and a great head start towards their future careers. Well done to all five students!

Thanks to Collaborative Construction Solutions, the first half of our toilet renovation project is open for use! With our outgoing leaders cutting the ribbon for the senior girls bathroom and our incoming leaders opening the junior girls, it was then time to reveal all to the real judges, and are extremely happy to report that everyone was more than impressed. There was no time wasted though, the fencing was moved to shut off the existing boys bathroom and get their renovations underway.

It's one of the highlights on the school calendar when it comes to fun. This Friday is the day when staff and students alike try to out do one another with fancy dress costumes....and then finish it all off with the colour run! Come ready for fun KKHS!

The Kurri Kurri Clontarf boys hosted their families for Father's Day this morning. It was a great way to start the day and celebrate the important role our dads and family members play in supporting our boys - and to enjoy a bacon and egg roll or two. In true Clontarf fashion, there was some friendly rivalry with games of pingpong and pool but it was seeing everyone having a laugh and connecting that was truly special.
A big thank you to all of those who could make it this morning, it was a fantastic opportunity to bring our Clontarf and school community together.

What a tournament it was for our boys! They were the complete underdogs. Coming up against players aged 18 & 19 years old, our team of 15 & 16 year olds stood toe-to-toe with the strongest teams in the comp. The full run down will be in the newsletter due out in coming weeks, but to finish 2nd in the group, win three games, score 13 goals and reach the Quarter Finals is an unbelievable achievement. The boys represented KKHS with tremendous effort, resilience and pride - congratulations to you all and thank you to Mr A for coaching and supporting the team to reach the National tournament, which is an achievement in itself.

Today, KKHS went to the polls to elect the new School Captains who will lead the SRC for the next twelve months. Like any election, the candidates had a chance to campaign, give a winning speech and then it was off to the polling booths. Outgoing Captains cast their vote and will formally hand over the role at an Induction Assembly later this month. This assembly will also induct the JAECG and Interact leadership teams for the coming 4 terms. We look forward to hearing the outcome of the votes.
