This week our hard-working Mini Vinnies team spent some time putting together Christmas Hampers for members of the Kununurra community who are in need during this Christmas season.

On Wednesday, was the culmination of a project that has run across this term with the collecting of non perishable food and the preparation of hampers for those in need of support during this festive season.

Thank you to everyone in our local community who has made a contribution towards these hampers. All of your donations are greatly appreciated and are being used to support many local community members.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Friday evening to celebrate our Christmas Concert.
The children thoroughly enjoyed performing for you and they did a fantastic job of entertaining everyone at the Leisure Centre on the night.

This year in Pre-Primary we have explored many of the local natural and man-made locations in the community including hiking in Mirima National Park, playing and exploring nature in Celebrity Tree Park (we found a very cool Bower Bird Nest), Fishing and enjoying nature at Ski Beach. These excursions allowed us to build our social bonds and explore oral language not used while in a classroom. We looked at the HASS curriculum where students gained a sense of location learning about places and where they can be located. Focusing on developing students' curiosity of their personal world, with connections made between their Pre-Primary setting and the local community. In the context of developing a sense of identity and belonging, students investigated the features of familiar places, why and how places are cared for, and explored what makes a place special. We taught each other what we knew about the local land around us and had the opportunity to pose and respond to 'who', 'what', 'when', 'where' and 'why' questions. The Pre-Primary students explored through, play and investigation, communicating their understandings through activities once we were back in class such as writing, painting, constructions or role-plays.

Our excursions are a highlight of our year in Pre-Primary, and we are so happy to be able to share some of the photos from our time.
