The Kooralbyn International School would like to sincerely thank our local op shop community for their generous support of our Textile Mastery students.

Students were challenged to upcycle second-hand items and transform them into something new, creative, or reimagined. Both the Kooralbyn Wildlife Op Shop and the KCG Op Shop kindly supported this project by providing materials and encouragement to help bring student ideas to life.

A special thank you is extended to the dedicated volunteers at the Wildlife Op Shop for generously opening the store exclusively for our students.

The funds used to purchase materials were raised by students through the sale of their cross-country scrunchies and bow ties. We greatly appreciate the ongoing support from our community in encouraging student creativity, sustainability, and hands-on learning.

On Tuesday 5 May, we were delighted to welcome nationally award-winning wearable fashion artists, Dr Dan Draper and Evita Camilleri (Derby Cross), to our school for an inspiring and engaging visit with our students.
Students had the opportunity to explore the artists’ creative process, experiment with a range of techniques, and gain insight into the world of contemporary art. It was a rich, hands-on experience that fostered creativity, curiosity, and self-expression.
Our sincere thanks to Dan and Evita for sharing their time, talent, and passion with our school community. The experience was both memorable and deeply inspiring for our students.
Please enjoy some highlights from the visit below.

This morning, we had the privilege of seeing our students represent our school in the ANZAC March, and we couldn’t be prouder.

They conducted themselves with respect and maturity throughout the ceremony, showing a deep understanding of the significance of the day. Their behaviour, attitude, and quiet pride truly reflected the values we hold as a school, and they made our whole community proud.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our families. We know that for some, attending meant an early start and a long trip into Kooralbyn, and we sincerely appreciate the effort you made to ensure your children could be part of this important event.
Your support means so much to us. Together, you help create a school community we are incredibly proud to be part of.
Lest we forget!

Over the holiday break, new shade sails were installed at TKIS, creating more comfortable and sun-safe outdoor spaces for our Primary school students.
This addition is part of our ongoing commitment to improving our school environment and supporting student wellbeing. We are delighted to see these spaces ready for use and know they will be enjoyed throughout the year.
Take a look at the photos to see the transformation!

The Kooralbyn International School will remain closed on Tuesday, 18th November and Wednesday 19th November.

Our maintenance and leadership teams are working diligently to restore the school to a safe standard for students and staff. While some progress is being made, we need additional time to ensure all areas are completely safe and ready for occupation.

Dear Parents and Carers,

We wish to inform you that a small fire occurred today in the boys’ toilets. The incident was promptly identified by staff on duty and quickly extinguished. We are pleased to confirm that no injuries were sustained.

The school immediately enacted its fire evacuation protocols. Both students and staff responded calmly and efficiently. The Fire Brigade attended the scene shortly after, carried out an assessment, and provided the all-clear for us to resume normal operations.
An investigation is now underway in collaboration with the relevant authorities to determine the cause of the fire.

The school day has not been disrupted, and all classes are continuing as per the timetable.

I would like to acknowledge and thank our staff for their swift and professional actions, which ensured the safe and orderly evacuation of everyone involved.

Kind Regards,

Ian Macpherson
Interim Principal
