YEAR 11 RETREAT 🤝

Over the past two days, our Year 11 students went on retreat, taking time to reflect on who they are, the choices they make and the leaders they want to become.

With Catherine Kolomyjec from The Kindness Challenge, students explored Catherine McAuley’s journey and the compassion she showed others, reflected on the character traits of effective leaders and completed activities in preparation for R U OK? Day.

The students also spent time with the Passionist Retreat Team who guided them through conversations and activities focused on building healthy relationships and making good choices.

A meaningful two days of learning, reflection and connection. 💙

Laudato Si’ Youth Summit

Eight of our students attended the Laudato Si’ Youth Summit at Corpus Christi School on Tuesday.

Students took part in interactive sessions exploring Water for Today and Tomorrow, Think Before You Throw, Human-Centred AI and Listening to Country. They also made personal pledges and worked together to brainstorm sustainability initiatives and priorities for our own school.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn, listen, collaborate and take action for our common home. 🤝🌏

BOOK WEEK 📖✨

Today, our Primary students and staff got into the spirit of Book Week, dressing up as beloved book characters!

We also had our annual Primary Book Week Parade, with some of our Year 12s even joining in the fun and sharing in the celebrations with our younger students.

It was wonderful to see so much creativity and enthusiasm today and we can’t wait to continue the celebrations throughout the week. 💙🙌

Twilight Story Night 📖✨

As part of our Book Week celebrations, our Pre-Primary to Year 2 students had a wonderful evening at Twilight Story Night listening to stories read by our volunteer staff readers.

It was lovely to see so many families joining us too, sharing in the joy of reading.

A big thank you to our wonderful Library staff for organising and making the night such a success! 💛👏

Today, we celebrated the Blessing and Official Opening of our new Dublin building and Comfort Café.

The occasion began with a Smoking Ceremony conducted by Mr Len Yarran. Guests then gathered in Dublin, where Fr Sam led a liturgy and blessed the building before Sr Joanne Dickson RSM officially opened it by unveiling a commemorative plaque marking an important new chapter in the continuing story of the Sisters of Mercy in Western Australia.

The celebration then moved to the Comfort Café, where Fr Sam blessed the new space and Sr Joanne unveiled a second plaque to officially declare it open. This was followed by a lovely afternoon tea in the tradition of Catherine McAuley.

We were honoured to welcome several Sisters of Mercy to our campus, together with staff, students, parents and representatives from CEWA. The occasion also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the architects, builders and everyone who helped bring these wonderful new facilities to life.

A proud moment for Mercy College and a beautiful reflection of our enduring Mercy legacy. 💛

Japanese Incursion 🇯🇵

Last week, our Years 3–6 students enjoyed a Japanese cultural incursion with Wasabi Kids, led by Aiko and her puppet co-host Tarou.

The Years 3 and 4 students experienced in the J-Pop Smash program, taking part in games including a Kawaii Relay and learning energetic J-Pop idol dance moves.

The Years 5 and 6 students enjoyed the Mottainai Eco Show where they explored sustainability through interactive challenges including a homemade kendama challenge and playing Fuku Warai using upcycled materials.

It was fantastic to see the students highly engaged and curious throughout the experience while learning more about Japanese culture and language. 🌟🙌
