Today we celebrate the women and girls who make waves, in and out of the water!
From the tiny swimmers learning their first bubbles, to the incredible women who teach, lead and support them, we’re proud to be part of a community where confidence grows one stroke at a time.
And for me, watching the next generation discover the water reminds me why this work matters so much.
Happy International Women’s Day to all the strong, capable and inspiring women in our community. 💙

10 years. Countless swimmers. Endless gratitude.
This January marks 10 years since I took over what became St George Swim Academy.
What a journey it’s been — from tiny first kicks to confident, capable swimmers.
To every family who has trusted us, every child who has jumped in (sometimes nervously!), and every staff member who has been part of the journey — thank you.
Here’s to the memories, the milestones, and many more years of making waves 💦

Royal Life Saving Australia provides three National Benchmarks for swimming and water safety education. These are the desired competency standards that every Australian should have the opportunity to acquire and maintain. Shockingly, their recent drowning report found that a whopping 58% of children aged 5-6 are nowhere near meeting this basic competency. Can your child of this age enter and exit shallow water, submerge their body and move through an obstacle, move continuously for 5 metres through the water, float and recover to a standing position? What about performing a survival sequence?
