Year 8 Circus Crew
On Tuesday 29 July, our Year 8 students had the exciting opportunity to take part in a circus skills workshop, where they stepped out of their comfort zones and tried a range of unique and entertaining activities with the folks from the Circus Crew.
Throughout the session, students rotated through four different circus disciplines: hula hooping, devil sticks, poi, and plate spinning. Guided by experienced instructors and surprisingly active teachers, they learnt the basics of each skill before challenging themselves to improve through practice and persistence.
The workshop was about much more than learning circus tricks. Students demonstrated excellent teamwork, encouraging one another as they tackled new challenges, celebrated successes, and learnt from their mistakes. The activities also highlighted the importance of perseverance, with many students discovering that determination and repeated practice led to impressive improvements by the end of the session.
It was fantastic to see so many students embracing the experience with enthusiasm, supporting their peers, and having plenty of fun along the way. The circus skills workshop was a memorable day that encouraged confidence, resilience, and collaboration, valuable skills that extend well beyond the classroom.
