Introducing the logo for our Production “On With the Show”, designed by Cat Logan of Year 10!

"On With The Show" features songs from over 15 different musicals all packaged together into a singing, dancing, show stopping (and somewhat socially distanced) spectacular!

Show dates: 15, 16, 18, 19 June. Tickets on sale next week!

A special mention to Tom De Soza, Lara Brown, Brayden Fabris, Ayden Payne, Annika Legg, Amy Derwentsmith who all contributed great designs for the logo too.

Shout out to Tim Roffe of Year 12. Doing an awesome job as always with the musical band. Special mentions must go to everyone else.

Attention lead vocalists in "On With The Show".

I have completed the vocal instructions worksheet for you to read. It is on the google classroom. If you are a lead vocalist, please take some time this week to read it through. I have given you specific instructions. Rehearsals will start in Week 10 and possibly in the 2nd week of the school holidays. I will let you know about that.

Anyone who is a lead, needs to tell me their availability for Tuesday afternoon during sport for Week A and B. Just put the information in the feed on the Google Classroom for me please.

New Announcement! The Orchestra List has been released. For those students who applied - thank you. I received 20 applications but I was only able to take 14. I am sorry to those who have missed out. I truly wish I could give all of you a chance.
The list has been posted on the Production Google Classroom! Check it out there.

Yes folks... the cast list for our new show - On With The Show! - was released today. It was very difficult to reduce our applications (110) down to only 65. The list was posted on the bulletin board outside the music department.
The band will be posted sometime tomorrow. Production list won’t be released until later this term.

Music Theatre Taster Course

In anticipation of our new Music Theatre program in 2022, the Conservatorium Open Academy are presenting a workshop to give students aged 15 to 25 to the skills needed to be a great musical theatre performer. With insights including stagecraft and presence, vocal technique, characterisation, ensemble work and more, students will have the chance to dance, act and sing in this hands-on workshop.

Its not just a glimpse but a taste of the fascinating, exciting, sometimes glamorous, but always hard working, world of Music Theatre.

Workshop presenters are drawn from the Music Theatre industry as well as the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Dr Narelle Yeo, Senior Lecturer in Stage Craft at the Conservatorium, Peter Cousens, Director and Performer, and Simon Kenway, Conductor, have collaborated to design sessions that will challenge students with specific skills in the key areas of singing, drama and dance as well as working to combine them in ‘the triple threat’ that every performer hopes to achieve. They will touch on chorus work, audition skills all founded in great technique as they explore each aspect of the genre.

The workshop will be held Saturday 27 March 9:30am - 1.00pm at the Conservatorium. There will be some music to learn before the workshop (which we will email you), and students are also encouraged to bring sheet music for 16 bars of your favourite musical theatre solo and comfortable dance gear to the workshop.

We are so excited about our new production and we would like to officially thank you all for taking the time to apply. We are very close to announcing the cast list so stay connected by following us on facebook.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Results of the First Round Auditions for KHS Production 2021.

Thank you so much to all who submitted an online audition video for the show. To say we were overwhelmed by the number of applications is an understatement. We received 249 applications for this show: 107 for Production, 84 for Vocals, 39 for Dancers and 19 for the Band.

We have watched all of the first round video auditions and we have started working on the cast list. As you know, we are not doing one show - but segments from about 15 shows. This will require a small number of call backs. As you can imagine, there are COVID restrictions with this show. At this stage, only 30 voices can sing, indoors, on stage at any one time so this creates quite a challenge. We are working through this so the cast list will not be posted at this time.

If you don't receive a call back, it does not automatically mean that you are not in the show. Miss West will be speaking with this small number of students in the coming days. Auditions for these call backs will be Thursday 11th March at 2pm. YOU ONLY ATTEND IF MISS WEST SPEAKS WITH YOU DIRECTLY.
