This week at Learning Adventures our Children have been celebrating 50 years Deadly for NAIDOC Week. We have had many experiences over the week for all ages.

Our Babies and Toddlers enjoyed a range of sensory experiences that explored the colours of the Aboriginal flag, and went hunting for flash cards with Australian animals. The children develop vocabulary and language skills as they repeat the names of the Australian animals while exploring through sensory play. We also saw lots of natural materials being used through story telling and sensory play as way to connect with the land and Country and learn through First Nations perspectives.

Our Preschool children also enjoyed a range of experiences such as writing in sand using Aboriginal symbols, learning what each one means and how they are used to create stories and as a communication tool. We also engaged in process art,on Tuesday painting unfold Lasagne sheets with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inspired colours, then on Thursday used these for a mosaic visual arts experience, snapping and breaking the sheets into small pieces and sticking this to cardboard canvas. The children explore their creative while making links and learning about First Nations people and culture.

πŸ’« Why Play Matters πŸ’«

This image compares the hand of a 3-year-old with that of a 7-year-old, highlighting the incredible growth and development that occurs during the early years. Before children are ready to write, they first need to develop the strength, coordination, and control in their hands, arms, shoulders, and core muscles.

Through activities such as playdough, painting, threading, building, climbing, balancing, and outdoor play, children strengthen the foundations needed for writing, concentration, self-care skills, and classroom participation.

Every block stacked, puzzle completed, and obstacle conquered is helping build the skills children need for future success.

πŸ’«Happy International Day of PlayπŸ’«

Today we celebrate the magic of play, the language of
childhood, the foundation of learning and the spark
behind every great adventure.

Whether children are building, creating, imagining,
exploring or simply sharing a laugh with peers, play is
how they make sense of the world around them.
Through play children develop confidence, resiliance,
creativity, problem solving skills and meaningful
relationships.

Play is at the heart of everything we do. Because every
moment of play is a moment of learning, growth and
belonging πŸ’œ
