Between the ages of three and five, children’s bodies are really working to develop their gross motor and fine motor skills. Gross motor skills involve longer, whole body movement and coordination to run, jump and catch. Fine motor skills utilise coordination of small muscle movements, and in particular help us in everyday tasks, such as using utensils and brushing teeth, but especially with emergent skills such as drawing, mark making, and eventually writing.

Anthony comes to visit Our Learning Steps each fortnight to spend time with our Pre-Kinders and Kinders to play a range of fun games and work on skill sets to encourage children’s fine and gross motor movements.

Children love the play, gamesmanship and fun that Anthony brings to us each visit.

A visit from Wild Action was just the ticket last week. Children had the opportunity to interact with a range of native Reptiles, Marsupials, and Avian life! From more common animals to some on the critically endangered list, meeting these new friends encouraged conversations about sustainability, conservation and protecting our environment for all wildlife.
