🔤 CVC Word Learning in Kinder! 📚✨

Our Kinder children are developing their early literacy skills through exploring Consonant-Vowel-Consonant (CVC) words.

They are learning to:
👂 Hear and identify the sounds in words
🔤 Recognise letters and connect them to their sounds
🧩 Blend individual sounds together to make a word
✏️ Build confidence in early reading and writing

For example, C-A-T → CAT 🐱

This learning helps children understand that words are made up of individual sounds that can be heard, represented by letters and blended together to create meaning.

Through songs, new words and fun learning experiences, the children explored different ways to communicate, strengthened their listening and language skills, and discovered the beauty of cultural diversity. 🗣️🎶

Today, our 4-year-old Kinder Teacher Kashish and Service Manager, Pheona, visited our local primary school to build new connections within our community. 🌱📚

Creating strong relationships with our local school helps us support our Kinder children as they take their exciting next step into school!

🌿A Special Visit from Our Support Office🌿

We were so excited to welcome Jo, our Pedagogical Practice Partner, and Suzie, Head of Early Childhood Education, to Story House Cheltenham. 💛

It was wonderful to have them spend time with our educators, explore our learning spaces and see the positive changes we have been working on.

Our Kinder children also created beautiful signs for Suzie, including "Thank you for guiding us". The children used natural materials collected from Black Rock Beach. They loved discovering that Suzie was originally from the local area and used to visit the beach herself! 🥰

A big thank you to Jo and Suzie for being part of our journey and continuing to support our team.

👩‍🍳 Ending Our School Holidays with a Little Cooking Fun! 👩‍🍳

What better way to wrap up our school holiday program than with a fun cooking lesson with Jo! 💕
Two weeks ago, our rooms came together to chat about what they would love to cook and, of course, the children had plenty of ideas! Together, they shared their thoughts, made decisions and helped choose what would make its way into the kitchen.
Today, it was time to bring those ideas to life! 🥣✨
The children had the opportunity to get involved in the cooking process, explore ingredients, practice their skills and, most importantly, enjoy creating something together.
There were lots of little hands helping, conversations happening and plenty of excitement as we worked together from start to finish.

🎒✨ A Little Peek Into Big School! 🏫📚

This week, our Kinder children were lucky enough to have a very special visitor — Takumi! 🌟

Takumi started primary school this year and was so excited to come back and share all about his big school adventure with us! He brought along his school bag, school uniform and even made his very own clock to help show us what a day at school looks like. 🕐🎒

The children listened with excitement as Takumi talked them through his day — from waking up and having breakfast, getting ready for school, dropping Hibiki off at daycare, heading to school, learning and studying, and of course… recess! 🍎📖

Takumi enthusiastically shared his experiences and gave the children a wonderful little glimpse into what their own school journey might look like one day. 💛

It was fantastic to see the children so engaged, curious and excited as they listened to Takumi share his experiences. What a wonderful way to support our Kinder children as they begin thinking about their own big step to school! 🎓✨

🌿 BUSH ADVENTURE – LYLE ANDERSON RESERVE! 🌿

We’re excited to announce that our Nursery and Toddler children will be heading out on a Bush Adventure to Lyle Anderson Reserve from next week! 🌳🦋

The children will have the opportunity to explore the natural environment, connect with nature and enjoy new experiences outside of the service. They will be encouraged to observe the plants, trees, insects and wildlife around them, while developing their curiosity, confidence and sense of wonder. 🍃🐛🌼

Our Bush Adventures will provide opportunities for the children to:
🌱 Explore and investigate nature
🐦 Look for birds, bugs and other wildlife
🍂 Collect and discover natural materials
👣 Develop confidence in outdoor environments
💚 Build connections with nature and their local community

We can’t wait to see where our little explorers’ curiosity takes them! 🌿✨

Our Kinder children came together to celebrate Superhero Day with lots of imagination, creativity and meaningful conversations! 💥✨

We began by reading the beautiful book “A Hero Like You”, which inspired the children to think about the many different kinds of heroes in our lives. 📚❤️

After the story, the children worked together to brainstorm and share their ideas about the superhero jobs their parents have. 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️ From helping others to keeping people safe, the children shared what makes their parents special and celebrated the important roles they have in our community.

It was wonderful to hear the children communicating their ideas, listening to one another and proudly sharing their own family connections. 🥰
