Temporary relaxation of working hours for student visa holders will end on 30 June 2023
To address workforce shortages, student visa work hours restrictions have been temporarily relaxed. This will end on 30 June 2023.
Until 30 June 2023, all ongoing students as well as new student arrivals and secondary applicants are able to work more than 40 hours a fortnight in any sector of the economy and work before their course of study commences.
After the 30 June 2023, the number of hours a Student visa holder will be allowed to work will again be capped. The number of hours a Student visa holder works, ensures that Students focus on obtaining a quality Australian education and qualification.
Students must make sure they are aware of any changes to visa conditions, including work rights.

Almost two years after the government closed Australia to the world, the international border is set to reopen to those who are fully vaccinated.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said after new medical advice, the new border rules would come into place on February 21. "The condition is you must be double vaccinated to come to Australia," he said.

Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said unvaccinated travellers would still need to apply for a travel exemption to come to Australia and have to undergo hotel quarantine if they were granted permission to enter the country.

Important information for returning international students to Sydney and NSW
Fully vaccinated eligible visa holders, including international students can travel to Australia without needing to apply for a travel exemption.

Returning international students must:

1. check your visa status via https://loom.ly/zYX-k6g

2. have received the number of doses required for a complete course of a COVID-19 vaccine approved or recognised by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA),

3. provide proof of their vaccination status; and

4. negative accepted COVID-19 test result. These tests can be either a COVID-19 PCR or other Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) taken within 3 days before your flight’s scheduled departure, or a medical certificate as proof of a negative Rapid Antigen Test taken under medical supervision within 24 hours before your flight’s scheduled departure

5. complete an Australian Travel Declaration prior to departure.

All fully vaccinated international travellers arriving in NSW must take a COVID-19 rapid antigen test (RATs) approved in Australia within 24 hours of arriving in NSW and isolate until they receive a negative result. A follow up rapid antigen test is required on or after day six after arriving in NSW. A test on day 12 is strongly recommended. Please see the approved list of RATs on the Therapeutic Goods Administration website.
